I already run too many RR two-drops, but this may make the cut anyways. The late-game dragon ability is nice, but doesn't play well with our average red decks. Even so, I think it's plenty powerful, and it's instant speed. The first two abilities are really what I'm interested in, but I don't think I'd include the Whisperer if that's all she had. I'm going to test her out, at the very least.
It's formidable ability seems way overcosted for just a win-more.
Be that as it may, I might test it in my edh cube, both as a means of lowering red's curve and also seeing how supported/supportable the big mana-red archetype is.
I think the Formidable effect will be flavor text 9 games out of 10, but occasionally you'll be stymied by a Moat or a durdly token or midrange deck. I think the key for me is the flying. The bane of aggro decks is a fast landing dude with an unburnable butt like Wall of Roots. Being able to get this guy to fly definitely makes him worth a test from me.
This is a standard card, where it will likely be insane. Obviously the formiddable isn't a thing for cube, but jump plus bad fire breathing is interesting. It's probably worse than other RR options though.
-RR sucks for a creature that requires additional investment to be more than a Piker.
-If the formidable ability didn't have the 8 power condition, it would be awesome. As is... eh. I wouldn't go so far as to call it strictly "win-more", but I don't think it's all that great.
I think I prefer Kargan Dragonlord to this creature, by a lot. And I don't even run the Dragonlord anymore.
I'm interested. Kargan Dragonlord is a house (and has won MANY games here that were unwinnable by other means), and this provides both non-embarrassing early stats (with evasion possible) as well as a later-game mana sink with an ability that, while not always active, absolutely will win games when it is.
I certainly have games vs. midrange decks in which the board gets clogged and I easily have 8 power but can't break through. All it takes is 2-3 small creatures with something like a Grafted Wargear on board to make it happen, and if it does it will be a game-winning ability.
Not bad, but of course costing RR is annoying, and I don't think it's better than Kargan (which we still run). It is more relevant on turns 3 to 4+, before you invested the extra RRRR needed to make Kargan fly, but it costs 2RRR to give the Whisperer 4 flying power just for one turn, and it never gets as threatening as Kargan alone.
I wouldn't call the formidable ability overcosted though. It's an instant speed, no need to tap, dragon-making mana sink on a two drop. 6 mana fine for that. The problem is the 8 power requirement. (His dragonbreathing could help reaching the 8 power, but at 8+ mana this is will happen almost never.)
This card looks awful. A creature with evasion I have to pay for, a bad firebreathing effect, and an irrelevant activated ability? And I have to pay RR for it? PASS. Another card that might be relevant if all you play is mono-red, but in typical 2-color aggro decks, this guy is unplayable.
Not really a fan. In my Winston/2-player environment I don't want to add CC creatures that aren't really unique or impactful, and Eidolon of the Great Revel is the only red one that fits the bill right now. RR is rough and this card requires further investment to be more than a bear. If the firebreathing were one mana proper I'd be interested for sure. EDIT: Actually, even then, I think I'd pass.
If the firebreathing ability gave her +2/+0 with a once per turn clause, and she cost 1R, I'd be interested. Oh well, at least we still have a playable dragon pooper in Sarkhan Unbroken.
Artwork is insane and the foil of this will be amazing, probably enough for someone to put in their Cube. An evasive 2 drop in Red could have been nice but double red, no haste, arse about firebreathing, count me out. The best it does is attacks for 3/2 in the sky on turn 3 somewhat reliably in a mono red deck. In a mono red deck are you sinking mana into one threat and getting blown out by any removal spell ever or are you playing more dudes? I don't think this guy is destined for Cube which suck as it looks amazing.
What do you think?

Love that godzilla-esq art!

I'm not convinced, but I'm interested.
