This card is just so uninspired. It looks like they went out of their way to make a worse version of Cryptic Command. The only thing interesting on the card is the creature recursion.
PS: Here's my WU command:
WU Command 2WU
Choose two:
-Creatures you control gain protection from the color of your choice until end of turn (Akroma's Blessing)
-Draw three cards, then discard three cards (Cephalid Coliseum)
-Return a creature with converted mana cost 2 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield (the same, but now synergistic with the second ability)
-Counter target spell with converted mana cost 3 or less (is this a card yet?)
There. I made it more interesting, and not just a downgraded version of cryptic. Mine is probably too good though.
That last effect is a real card, yes.
I can't remember the name for the life of me but it has weird art with someone being attacked by kelp or something, iirc.
On topic, I like this card. I mean, sure, its no Cryptic Command, but it'd be unreasonable to expect that. I think it's a very solid UW option.
I think the counter ability on this card had to be better than Remove Soul to crack into tighter guild sections. It's not bad as is, but I don't think it'll make the cut in my list. Beyond the big three (Geist, Verdict, Sphere) I like Sphinx's Rev more and I'm running Venser to support blink shenanigans.
Huh, I just thought: It would be cool if the reanimation ability would return any type of permanent, not just creatures. That would make the card a lot better for straight control decks.
I cut Exclude quite some time ago for being too narrow to justify costing 2U, and that's basically what this Command is going to be 90% of the time for an extra W.
That's a good point. Haven't thought of it this way. I like this card even less now. I am still running Exclude and like it, but paying one more mana (in a second color!) just to get a lifegain option and another option that will be pretty useless in most UW control decks just doesn't seem to be worth it.
I think both of the white abilities are better than people give them credit for. In a control-exclusive shell, it'll mostly be an Exclude that often swaps one of the 2 modes out for some lifegain, but in tempo decks and midrange decks, the creature snagging function will be used a lot of the time. It'll float between a Mystic Snake of sorts, an Exclude, a cantripping creature and situational lifegain too. Basically, I wouldn't just write this off as an exclude plus 2 useless abilities. I think of this more as a 3-mode card with the option to gain life where it will be critical, when all three of the first abilities will be commonly used and interchangeable.
Admittedly, I originally read this card as power instead of cmc on the creature, which made it WAY better. It's taken a hit in my mind because of that, but I still think it's a solid consideration as a mid-tier Azorius card.
I probably am underselling the instant speed graveyard recursion and lifegain options, and it might take some testing to be sure, but do you think Ojutai's Command ranks above any of the following five Azorius cards?

Those are my five Azorius cards. While this card is good, I can't see it being better than the first four. Maybe Venser. I might test this in his place and see how it goes.
I've been wondering the same thing. I am actually leaning towards Narset. On the other hand, I don't want two Azorius planeswalkers, so I might still go with the Command, even if it is a slightly weaker card.
I like it more than Narset, but that also depends on your format. This would be better for me, but for slower grindy cubes, Narset will provide more average value than it will for me.

Whether my multi-color non-lands are top 3, top 4, or top 5....they all rank ahead of this new O-Command. I still think Verdict is the best card for either color. #2 / 3 / 4 are preference with what you want that color to do. Geist is the never-bad beater. Sphere and Venser are great accents to what U and/or W want. Revelation caters to the UW control playstyle. All of these cards do a much better job for [Blue splashing White], [White splashing blue], and [Blue and White.dec] in most cubes than O-Command IMHO.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.

I don't like it more than any of these. I think Sphere, Verdict, and Geist are the three UW staples, so it's not replacing any of those. This probably comes in sixth place for me. If I didn't love blink as an archetype so much, I might try it in the Venser slot.
I think this is pretty good and better than the comparison to Exclude makes it look like. This doesn't have the problem of keeping mana open to counter and than not being able to do anything with it when no creature is cast, or being just bad against a create-light deck. This has other relevant modes, and the flexibility is worth the extra mana. Whether it cracks small multicolor sections is another story. I would run it over Venser, which hasn't performed well for us, and I'd test it against Sphinx's Revelation (but would expect it to be a bit worse).

I would run this over Absorb, but not over Sphinx's Revelation.

I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the cycle though, because modal cards can bring so much to the table in singleton formats.

I guess I am going with Sphinx's Revelation over Absorb instead of putting this card in that slot.
