This card is house! It's a zombie, it encourages the black deck to sacrifice a creature to D-tutor and has deathtouch as a bonus. Sidisi's toughness makes for a pretty big wall in a cube environment and the fact that you can blink/recurring nightmare/whatever else shenanigans to abuse the tutor is pretty slick. I'm excited to throw this card in my list.
Basically a 4/6 deathoucher for 2B with Diabolic Intent strapped to it. Cool card, I'm definitely interested. DTK spoiler day one and we already have three promising cards. Get stoked for this set! I'm pumped rebound is making a comeback, that mechanic is sweet.
Seems like a fantastic piece for Pod, Whip, and Nightmare decks. The worst case scenarios (only the body, only the DT) are fine as a split card, and once you start getting into graveyard synergies this gets significantly better than that. I'll be testing at 540 with high hopes.
I think it is pretty strong. I'm not sold on it yet, but I feel like exploit is a mechanic that will show it is much stronger than it appears at first glance.
I think this is a great card: a 4/6 deathtouch for five mana is very pushed, and getting a Diabolic Intent attached to that is especially great for cubes. The creature type is also relevant for Gravecrawler (sweet in this instance!) and Graveborn Muse. This is obviously great in B/X tokens and midrange strategies and is passable as an aggro-curve topper, maybe saccing an irrelevant body to get some game-ending burn or removal. I've been very happy with Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath, but this card is firmly on our radar.
I am not feeling this card. Subpar basic stats and ability. The tutor effect is great but it can whiff when you don't have a good sac target. I prefer Ob Nixillis. I might even prefer a good Juzam clone.
I really wish wizards would stop doing this, but this is another guy where the deathtouch is pretty irrelevant. 4 power is a lot, and most creatures will already die to it. Really wish she was a 4 mana 2/5 or 2/4 instead, which would make her more playable and would make it feel less bad when she sacced herself to be a tutor. But at 5 mana, I don't think it makes it is small-medium cubes. It is nice that black has a lot of recurrable/throw away creatures, so it's certainly testable and I can be swayed if people really like it, but I won't be pushing to test it.
I think deathtouch is still fine on a 4 power creature. Not great, but it still makes sense. There are quite a few 5+ toughness creatures around.
On a 6 power creature on the other hand...
I mean, yes, it's obviously better than no deathtouch, and there are some number or relevant creatures it kills or trades with that it otherwise wouldn't. But 4 power is on the bubble, obviously better than on 5+ power, but still only relevant against like <10% of the field.
You know what id great flavor with a high power deathtouch creature? Trample. How many non-flyers in flack have trample. Or first strike, that is also nutzo, but as it is I'll probably still try it. Not a slam dunk by any means but it is in the top echelon. Especially since late game you sometimes can just use a 5 mana demonic tutor for the win.
The combo potential with this guy and ETB creatures is insane. He's a staple for me before I've even seen him in play. Sacrificing a creature and getting Malicious Affliction. Awesome. Sacrificing a Shriekmaw effect to tutor for a Reanimate effect. Awesome. And that's just surface-level interaction.

For 7 and 6-8 mana respectively, you better be getting something awesome. You can't even break the affliction play into 2 turns.
I run 3 lotuses, 7 moxes and a fistful of other ramp. 7 and 8 mana aint that much in my cube. It probably makes this card way better for me than most others.
I'm not a fan. Too expensive for a tutor (AND I have to sac a creature?) and the base stats aren't that impressive. I'd rather have Bloodgift Demon, Shadowborn Demon or Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath over this guy.
I'd cut Ob Nixilis 1.0 if you're still running him. As black midrange moves towards more of a Pox setup and aggro improves with every set, I've found Ob Nix to be less and less valuable. This, on the other hand, fits everything that most cubes are trying to do with their black sections.
I'm not sold. A 5-mana french vanilla creature with a card parity ability? The tutoring ability is fine, but having to sac a creature really limits the range of decks it can go in. I'll probably test it because the 5cc creature slot is so terrible in black, but I'm not convinced this is better than Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath, which has a better body, better keywords and card advantage potential. And I recently cut that card. So...
I'll test it. It has potential. My 5-drop black creatures are currently Bloodgift Demon, Gray Merchant, and Shriekmaw. I don't know that this is better than any of them but it seems worth a shot.

It may depend on the structure of your cube. Right now my cube is really pushing tokens in RWB, with Ophiomancer and Mardu Strike Leader as relatively new additions to the black token producer section. I can definitely see this guy near the top of a token deck to trade a token for an anthem or something, and give you a reasonable body to deal with anything your 1/1's can't. Same if you are supporting pox.

I used to write for MTGS, including Cranial Insertion and cube articles. Good on you if you can find those after the upgrade.
