"4RR Opening Ceremony

Add WUBRGC. Open a booster pack. You may cast the exiled cards this turn."
Is this good? YOLO draw 15 cards and you have your mana pretty well fixed for it. If you run cost reduction spells or storm cards your cube this can also go positive on mana.
As booster tutor shows, there is always something worth casting from a 15 card pack and this has an added bonus of being able to hit off colour cards.
It's cast, not play so you can't hit lands but that's isn't too much of a concern when your at 6 mana anyway.
I might give it a shot for fun reasons. Don't see it becoming a staple but I wouldn't be surprised if it plays better than it looks.
As someone who likes booster tutor as a card (although I eventually cut it because it wasn't that strong and dealing with making packs 6 times during the course of the night was pretty annoying), I like the idea of this, but how often are ~2 cards with total CMC <6 out of a random 15 better than your average cube 6-drop? Not very often is my guess.
I dunno, when I'm drafting there always seems to be afew cheap interaction spells and solid creature/planeswalker/artifact. I think your average case is 3 spells off this; 2 removal/interaction spell and a 3cmc threat.
As a floor you proabaly take the best card from the pack and spend the rest of your mana normally. Your even on mana and cards, although I could see having some spare off colour mana.
I think this could often be better than the average 6 drop because they usually go late in draft, this swaps a later draft pick for getting your pick of any 6cmc worth of cards fram a pack. There will be alot of variance, but I think I will be happy with the average pack.
I think I have at least convinced myself to test it at this point.
I missed that it added a colorless mana too. I thought you were only getting 5, in which case being able to cast 3 spells off it and have them all matter was a bit of a pipe dream.
Yeah, that fact that you get 6 mana back makes this testable on power level if you want this effect. That being said, I think I like my current expensive red cards enough not to swap them out, and you still have to contend with the "make a bunch of packs ahead of time or during the games" issue.
I never make the packs ahead of time, we just shuffle up before playing and if we need and extra pack just grab a stack from the box and count off 15.
The interaction of cost reduction cards and this is pretty strong as well, both this and the cards it's giving you cost less. If you have something like Baral Chief of Compliance out you could be up 3-4 mana pretty easily. I've been thinking of pushing more spells matters so I've been considering more versions of the effect.
I don't run storm, but it seems like this would be good in those decks.

I color-sort my cube when making packs (so that I'm not shuffling the entire cube every time and so packs are more balanced across the colors to somewhat mimic collation of normal packs) so it's annoying to make packs on the fly lol. In any event, this is the kind of un-card I like for cube - powerful but not overtly so, splashy, and abundantly clear with how it works.

This is still the best place for high-power-level cube chat & debate.
Here's to many more years at MTGS *clink*
