This is definitely cool, and there are a fair amount of neat synergies here. Filtering my cube by "discard" nets 53 cards out of 630, although 15 of them are things that make your opponent discard a card, such as Duress, or aren't worth using on yourself for this effect, such as Inquisition of Kozilek.
I'm don't think this is a high enough density in my cube, to make room for this so I think this may be a watch for me.
Some highlights:
1. It's optional, and triggers on each card if you discard multiple cards (such as to Wheel of Fortune).
2. You can have your cake and eat it too with Miscalculation!
3. Break the symmetry of Liliana of the Veil.
4. Looting is a lot better.
This reminds me too much of Squee. Unless you're pushing a heavy discard theme with like Bottomless Pit / storming off with Loin's Eye Diamond or something, discard outlets are fine on their own and really don't need any help being good / better. I think Squee is also generally better than this since I don't actually have to cast it and is way better with Survival of the Fittest.
One day I'll make cycling build-around-me decks work and this will probably be there. But until then, I don't think this is a high priority card to add to my list.
The low cost is its best feature. Surly Badgersaur has a somewhat similar upside, but nobody's gonna have time for that in cube. Being cheap and colorless gives this a little playability. I may try it.
Compared to Conspiracy Theorist, this can play lands, works with effects that discard multiple cards and is colourless, but has a worse body and cannot loot itself.
One issue is that in a dedicated discard deck, you are often discarding cards with madness, or repeatedly discarding Squee, Goblin Nabob or Master of Death. When you are doing that, this card gives you no value. Outside of a discard deck, this card is just too inconsistent, and by itself it is completely worthless. As it isn't great in a discard deck, and horrible everywhere else, I would be highly surprised to see this card perform well in cube.
