Decent filler for aggro / token / aristocrat decks. Like most of these lands, they'll slot into any red deck, just a matter of wether or not you have a cube slot for them. I like this more than Castle Embereth, possible #3 red utility land for me after Shatterskull Smashing / Den of the Bugbear.
T! Ragavan
T2 attack, make Treasure
T3 you can do this + Have bolt/spell pierce mana
Seems good in the same way that running den of the bugbear is good. Prob only a 1 of in that type of list. There is some utility to the fact that the creatures are colorless and the land goes to the bin
Will always hit main decks but isn't worth the opportunity cost of a cube slot imo, unless you are trying to reach a critical threshold of utility lands per color. There are few good red utility lands
Slam dunk auto-include for Cubes of any color. People are really underrating the ability of these ETB untapped early game while having spell effects late game.
I like Den of the Bugbear and Shatterskull Smashing a lot more and I don't think most cubes have room for three red utility lands. Even if those two didn't exist I wouldn't be excited since the rate is quite bad unless you have a legendary creature.
Agree with the comment about cube slot opportunity cost here and with the comment about this probably being at least 3rd, arguably 4th amongst the red utility lands. The effect is very subpar for the cost and the land back up option doesn't save it.
I've been incredibly impressed by Culling the Weak in EDH and I look forward to adding Culling the Weak into my cube as the number of mana sinks and low opportunity cost token generators increase with all these flip lands, kicker, mana sinks etc.
