Maybe a bit of a sleeper card, but this card looks promising. It turns all your shatters and disenchants into "nonland permanent" removal, adds artifact synergy into your artifact matters shells, and still functions as an untapped mana rock as a floor. Might be worth a test.
I am PSYCHED to have this for UR commander, which can't really deal with enchantments well lol.
As far as cube goes, I have 9 cards that would benefit from this text, although 4 of them can already kill some/all creatures (Rakdos Daretti, Kologhan's Command, Abrade, and Fiery Confluence). That's pretty narrow.
My 2 mana ramp outside signets is Coldsteel Heart, Felwar Stone, Grim Monolith, and Mind Stone. I think the ability to cash in mind stone for a card makes it better, fixing of heart makes it better, and monolith is obviously a whole different animal. However, Felwar Stone is definitely just tap for colorless a fair number of games, so perhaps that swap is worthy of a test.
Oh man, I really love this and am definitely going to test. We played with the OG liquimetal coating for a few drafts and it was fun but a bit too cute. This brings down the ceiling a bit since I can't steal or blow up their lands, but raises the floor a LOT.
Wasn't aware of the card, thanks for the heads-up!
This is probably worse than signets and talismans, but I don't run those and the pool for strictly colorless mana rocks is not that deep. I also like how the card is always solid but it has an interesting upside that is not easy to take advantage of. I'm planning on including it.
I be interesting in this. I generally like 2 CMC mana rocks - turning permanents for shatter effects, especially with all the new artifact removal is excellent.

I looked at this card, didn't think much of it, and just kinda moved on. Seeing you folks discuss it ... hmm. I think it has the potential to be useful for decks that are looking for 2 mana rocks. Might have natural synergy with Wildfire decks. Play red cards -> include shatters -> include this rock -> sometimes be able to shatter a planeswalker or enchantment. Yeah, I'm sure I can swap it easily for another generic rock and give it a try.
This is a good card and is probably the #4 2-cmc mana rock for me that taps for a single mana (sans Talismans / Signets) after Mind Stone / Coldsteel Heart / Everflowing Chalice.
