Break the Ice
BB - Sorcery
Destroy target land that is snow or could produce C.
Overload 4BB
Our Cube has snow basic lands in the place of regular basic lands, meaning that this card destroys any basic land plus approximately 30 of the non-basics and has potential 'geddon upside. We support black aggressive strategies and would love another Sinkhole effect, even if you aren't killing some duals/manlands with it.
This is an odd one, very interesting/unique for sure. I'm working on a Peasant Snow Cube, notably cutting reanimator, so black should be able to fully support aggro/mid/control. I'm just not sure what decks wind up playing this. A weird midrange card to keep opponents off their fixing midgame and a late game winner if you're ahead? First glance I think it comes up short, but it's one of the more interesting cards Peasant Snow has gotten.
I have the same house rule as you, but not including this card.
Not a big fan of sinkhole, and this is worse in the 2 mana mode.
The overload is nice, but it's still a bit on the expensive side unless you can break the symmetry.
It also creates a bit too much feel bad for an opponent who didn't draft non-basics and aren't in love with the snow-land house rule.
It's reasonably powerful tho, wouldn't fault someone for running it with a snow cube!
I'm going to try it out for sure--I do still run Sinkhole and I do run all-snow lands. Several of my non-basics do also make :symc:. The Overload clause means potential Armageddon-type wins so it might be a higher pick in our drafts than Sinkhole was.
I took out actual Armageddon a while ago to make room for other stuff so this also feels like an easy way to sneak that back in.
For my case, it would errate this to "basic lands".
I've going to give this a try to help prop up the aggressive decks but I like the overload side a little bit better as its a slightly better top deck. But what I don't like is basic lands are "sacred" and should not be punished and not hitting utility/ greedy mana bases is a negative.

I have snow in my cube for Arcum's Astrolabe and Ice-Fang Coatl etc. but I also have it for Field of the Dead and Tainted Pact, where it benefits from having snow and non-snow.
For my case, it would errate this to "basic lands".
