It's kinda cute that they let you kick it from the graveyard, but I feel like not having to pay anything is the main draw of bloodghast. It feels more like a "hey remember the good old days" card than it does like an include from here.
Edit: actually I think I'm wrong, it's still pretty good. You still get to recur it when you have mana available, can't underestimate just having more resources
I think this card is pretty good. It's not as good as Blodghast / Scrounger, IMO, but it's the next best thing as far as recursive aggressive 2-drops go. Being able to kicker late game on the flashback is really nice.
Recursive creatures are good in black. And this can be cast (or replayed via landfall) as a 3-power 2-drop or a 5-power 5-drop. Good flexibility, and of course, this will play really well in black aggro and aristocrats/stax decks alike. Another big thumbs up from me. This set is fantastic.
I like this card...finding a cut for it is actually harder than I expected though. This slot has gotten much better than back when we were running Asylum Visitor or Blood Scrivener.
WOW, they actually did it. FOUR solid playable 2 drop creatures, each one in a different colour. Just what my cube needed. This set is a home run for cube already
Having the bigger kicker size is pretty neat for late top decking, as lands become a 5/3 and it prevents this card from being useless on boards where a 3/1 couldn't make a good attack. And that is only the gravy part of the card.
Will definitely add this in my 450 unpowered, probably replacing Gnarled Scarhide. I like that it potentially can return as a bigger beater like Woe Strider.
My black creature sections (1-3 mana) is almost completely turning into recursive creatures and sac outlets. This is good news. I will have to keep an eye on exile effects and graveyard hate being able to keep it in check, but that is a great problem to have. With how much I like scrapheap scrounger /woe strider this is an easy choice.
Little sad about not being a zombie, but that is a nit pick. Probably have to say goodbye to Grevyard Marshall, who is very good in a similar way but I often don't have creatures I want to exile since I have other ways to get them back.
Edit: the showcase version is boss!
[180 classic cube]
Kicker is a big deal for the graveyard recursion part.

Seriously what is up with this set and amazing two drops. I think all we need is a green one and every color will have gotten a new one from ZNR.
