Turn any card into a bear in a pinch. Instant speed is nice, and the threat of activation can be real. There are also plenty of creatures that can be nice to surprise flip. 3 isn't so bad.
This is a winner in my book. You can make instant speed bears, turn all your lands into creatures, and pull of some seriously hilarious creature flip shenanigans. I think this card is fantastic and I'm super excited to cube with it.
EDIT: Basically turn all of your big dumb beaters into Exalted Angels
I initially thought this manifested the top card of your library and I was sold--from your hand seems a lot worse. I'm rarely going to want to manifest a noncreature from my hand as I can't flip it up and usually the spell will be of more value. I'm not sure investing 3 mana to be able to play my threats as 2/2's in advance is really that impressive either, especially when you are losing ETB effects as well. The surprise factor is fun I'll admit, but I'm not sure that alone gets there.
Edit: Also pseudo-flash/uncounterable is pretty neat. Still not sure its enough.
This ain't bad. It's got the Pack Rat quality of "all your draws become live," and the activated ability being free is very nice. Being able to turn excess lands into 2/2s is cool. Definitely a cubeable card, but this seems more like a back-up plan type card in most scenarios, which I'm not a fan of.
Basically turn all of your big dumb beaters into Exalted Angels
I wouldn't look at it this way for two reasons:
- Cards like Exalted Angel and Sagu Mauler get discounts when using Morph.
- Most creatures higher up in the curve are Mulldrifters, not Baneslayer Angels. While a Baneslayer Angel gets to attack faster with this, the Mulldrifters lose their ETB triggers, which is where most of their value lies.
If you are heavy on a blink archetype, this might be an include. Getting to cheat your relevant permanents into play and then flicker them into their true forms is powerful. Otherwise it's got the Vivien's Arkbow syndrome: you just spent a card on getting speculative value out of all your cards, which is fine in most Limited formats, but you're ALSO playing the best Magic cards ever. You usually want to just play them! That's why they're in the cube!
Interesting card... don’t think it’s good enough for high powered format but it’s close.
So the card is innately card disadvantage, but there a few ways it can recoup its value.
1) putting attackers/blockers on the board can translate to virtual card advantage if it prevents you from dying or if you kill your opponent.
Pressuring planes walkers can translate to advantage.
2) flood protection, means that the top of your library is always at worst a flash bear. Which, depending on the number of mana sinks a deck has, may translate to value.
3) Mana saving. Blink interactions could save mana.
4) token interactions like opposition , anthems, equipment etc may make a body very appealing relative to the card that could otherwise be cast.
5) surprise factor messing up combat math. If opponent makes bad blocks due to the threat of the morph being a different creature , that generates value.
Im pretty confident it’s too slow for a normal cube, but it’s interesting and not far off in power level.
I think it's also kinda nice for getting hellbent, right? I feel like it's easier to get a full Wheel of Fortune if you're turning your cards into 0 mana bears after the first turn it's out.
Ya know, I have Venser, the Sojourner in foil and I dont have a foil Teferi, Hero of Dominaria... I could just re add venser and save myself some cash until Teferi rotates out and costs less lol. I could see going heavy into blink again for Azorius, and now that we have full talismans I would feel slightly better about giving the ol Eldrazi Displacer a whirl. Could be fun with this card
Edit- I forgot to talk about the card and just started brewing instead.
I really like this card, even without all that other stuff I mentioned. One of my favorite parts about it is that it actively tries to promote active play by giving you something to do with your cards in scenarios where you might be locked out by things like, opposition (sure, they can just tap the dude I manifest out, but at least I got to put it out there while they tap away my mana during my upkeep), and can help get around counterplay significantly. It also gives you something to do if you end up flooded. I like that it wants me to do stuff each turn
I personally want to run it along side blink and think it will be a fun addition to the cube environment.
Doesn't this give all your creatures flash while making them uncounterable at the cost of losing ETB-triggers? That sounds very interesting to me. Maybe a bit too matchup-dependent, but for a green deck it actually sounds super-cool!
Unmorphing does not use the stack. This means that there is not an additional round of priority after you unmorph a creature (unless it has a trigger when that happens). If you block with a morph and an opponent passes priority, they will not have an opportunity to kill your creature before damage after you unmorph it. There creature will just die.

That fact makes this a lot more enticing to me.
This is not true. The game moves to the next step/phase when both players pass priority without taking any action. Taking a special action counts as taking an action, so it passes right back to the attacking player before you move to the combat damage step.
Here's a quick breakdown of the special speed of unmorphing:
You can't quite unmorph "whenever you like", but it's certainly faster than most actions in the game. You may unmorph something at any point that you have priority, after state-based actions are checked, regardless of whether the stack is empty or not. However, it doesn't go on the stack and doesn't require your opponent to say "sure, no response" in order to resolve. You will receive priority right after unmorphing, just like if you had cast a spell.
I can't figure out how much I like this but I can tell a few games with it will paint a great picture. Just turning extra lands into 2/2's or reanimator targets stuck in your hand into early blockers seems great.
Additionally, Gabrosin and LucidVision made me realize how good this actually can be in blink. On the surface it can be a nonbo by blanking the initial ETB trigger, but blinking a manifest will save you the entire mana cost of the creature AND trigger the ETB. That's rad!

You learn something new every day! Thanks for pointing out my mistake. A couple years ago this was explained to me the way I described and I didn't particularly question it. Cheers!

At the very least I think I'll test it.

Don't know if it will make tight lists but I think it's worth experimenting with this in the 540+ range.
