- "Free" sac outlet / draw engine that can get really out of hand with tokens
- Discard outlet for Recurring Nightmare shells
- Protection from humans means he can't be arrested by Palace Jailer and can block Gideon variants all day
Seems like a shoe-in if you have a dedicated Aristocrats package, but I'm currently on the fence at first glance without that package. Seems like there's a lot of potential though, may test just to see exactly what that is.
Love it. Sacrifice outlet, discard outlet, card draw, creature removal, more maindeckable sources of proliferate ...I plan to cube with this creature. Plus the protection from humans is a relevant protection, and a 2/4 is a stout body for both combat and against bolts.
It really does everything I want in multiple archetypes. I support aristocrats, so every free sac outlet is something to look at. It is an interactive card and a discard outlet. And Randomly you'll be able to sink in mana and cards to ultimate a planeswalker.
Really cool card, with lot's of ways to abuse it. I might try this in place of skinrender. Both cards can affect things with the -1 counters, and skin renderer is obviously good with ways to flicker it, but all the different ways to abuse this guy if he sticks around make him a more interesting card. I will miss the art of Skin render and I like all the phyrexian foils in cube with the set symbol.
Even without a dedicated aristocrats theme this guy is interesting. Once you get a few creatures out as well, it makes it really hard for your opponent to do any combat math if you have mana open. plus I am really tempted to try and build a UB creature based deck around him. most of our UB decks are either artifact based, graveyard / reanimate based or straight control.
Also, it will feel really good when your opponent goes turn 3 Kitchen Finks, and you go turn 4, cast this guy, and add a counter to finks
I like it a lot and I will definitely be giving him a shot when I get my hands on one. He just has so much potential synergy tucked away in that text and helps bolster aristocrats, an archetype I have been wanting to go more in on.
Hoses most of white aggro, achieve ults quicker, sac outlet, and creature killing and more. I think this is best mythic from the cycle. Imagine a simple setup with sword of body and mind, or bitterblossom. This is probably going to be my favorite black card ever.

It's a sacrifice outlet and a discard outlet in one. That is already enough to make me love it, since I adore cards that fill multiple crucial roles for different archetypes. It's also a card advantage engine, a removal engine, and a proliferate card. This checks so many boxes that it's easy to forget that it also has protection from one of the most relevant tribes.
This is friggin' awesome, and I would love to cube with it. Once again, budget constraints are my only stumbling block. I hope this ends up $5 or less, but I'm doubtful.
This is a hard card to evaluate, because his abilities play together very nicely, making the result more than what you get at the first look. Its floor is a 2/4 protection from humans. It survives doomblades, cast down and bolts, and banishing light effects from humans, which is really important because this guy must be removed before your other creatures, since you can sac in response. The instant speed 0 mana sacrifice outlet is what we love, and drawing a card plus placing counters is insane. Yawgmoth plays with all your resources; he spends mana, life, discards, and sacrifices creatures, while giving draws, removal and proliferate. The proliferation on the -1/-1 counters that you've just placed looks quite powerful.
Compare him to Viscera Seer & Goblin Bombardment. Drawing a card is worth about 2-3 scries or more depending on your situation. Placing a -1/-1 counter is way more powerful than 1 damage against creatures (Yes you lose the go face ability), and it gets better with proliferate. At the cost of 1 life per activation, this guy gets insane amounts of resouces out of a sacrifice compared to what we have seen on other instant & mana free sac outlets. And it comes on a fine body with 2 other abilities.
I would have loved him to be a 3/4 lifelinker instead of protection from humans, since that would give him a beautiful symmetry in his resource management.
But disregard that, he seems to be one of the best cards for cube that I've seen in a long time. He is fun to play and fun to draft around. He enables deep archetypes and engines, which is what I play magic for! He is heavy black and plays with just about anything you have going in black. Orzhov planeswalker tokens will love him, and so will aristocrats. Even reanimator might play this defensive discard dude.
Side question: How many people are playing blood artist? Asking for a friend......
AS far as this card, I think most have been said, it combos with basically everything in black in cube except hard aggro, but some people might not play it compared to immediate impact 4 drops.
I'll make a couple additional observations.
Skullclamp 1, sac a creature draw two cards
This dude BB : sac a creature draw a card, and -1/-1 counter on target creature
And considering you can put the counters on your own creatures including yagmoth if you need to draw that is sweet. Add in basically unlimited proliferate adn you are really talking.
An extremely hard slam dunk at 360, I think the power level is there, and supports a slew of different strategies, making in the perfect cube card. Skinrenderer will be the cut. (Even though it has good synergy with the card)

I do, it's a really fun card and the damage can really stack up, especially if you have a free sac outlet like this guy who allows you just keep gaining incidental value against any removal your opponent has or every you have to chump block.
The life gain is useful for padding your life total, especially in a colour that spends it.

You dont pay BB for the sac, you pay 1 life.
And he reads up to one creature, meaning you can just choose to draw without placing a counter.

This is a cool card but I don't think it's close to being a 360 "extremely hard slam dunk".
I personally wouldn't play this in 360 powered over Skinrender and Ravenous Chupacabra, both of which have more immediate impact / payoff.
This card is just a bit durdly for what it's trying to do, with neither of the activated abilities being a particularly good rate.
Fun card, but a bit fair overall when you could be doing things like Recurring Nightmare for 3 or Animate Dead for 2.
I love this creature and will absolutely be cubing it. I haven’t gone all in on black aristocrats but this guy is a good reason to consider going that way. He’s an engine and a payoff all in one.

The point is that Yawgmoth does something very different from those cards. While 187 creatures are always good cards, Yawgmoth helps as both a payoff and an engine for specific archetypes, giving them consistency. In my opinion sometimes it's not just about which card is the straight best
This guy would make a hell of a commander as well. Definitely going to cube him- easily my favorite character from magic. I hope they do some more references towards the brothers war. Loving this set, but its gonna break my bank
Also, I love attaching additional bits of removal to my sacrifice effects that also draw me a card for no mana. Waaaat
Sure, it does a lot of things. But it also either warps your draft too much for it to see consistent play, or it warps your cube construction.
Assuming that it is as good as it looks. Which I do think it looks good, but there is only so much construction space in 360 and I am skeptical how it will end up.

I like what TalosMaximus said about Yawgmoth using all your traditional resources (mana, life, cards, and creatures). Unlimited interactions!
