A two mana 1/1 Riftwing Cloudskate is intriguing. I don't know if most cubes need another bounce effect but this might be better than Exclusion Mage since it can bounce any permanent including your own. It's also a sorcery to synergize with all the spells matters cards and it makes a zombie to boot.
Only being a 1/1 isn't ideal but at 1U a body is a body and I like pushing blue tempo so I think i'll give this little guy a whirl.
It's very strong for a common. I don't think it's quite up there with the premium bounce spells like Into the Roil, Cyclonic Rift and Repeal, which are just about what we've got room for, but I'm curious for people's experience with this.
I think this isn't good enough for cube as the other options pointed out are better. I think this has the potential to do really good in limited though where you can draft like 3 of these in a deck and get a Blue X tempo deck rolling. Seems pretty anoyting to play against to have your cards continually bounced as the army token slowly grows and crushes you
I do love the idea of dropping this with young pyromancer/mentor/saheeli out but it is probably worse than if it were a 1/1 bounce dude, as it doesn't the flicker game with man-o war and a 1/1 is pretty bad.
This is sweet for a common, but I do like Into the Roil better. A 1/1 body is much much less relevant than a 2/2 like Man-o'-War. I could see myself trying this though.
Nice gem among the commons you've found here. For me it won't make it at the cost of exclusion mage, as being a creature is important for exclusion mage in the cube i run.(Birthing Pod, Collected company, blink and other graveyard stuff). Compared to other bounce spells, being a sorcery stinks, as these cards can be used as combat tricks, end of turn remove a blocker, held up alongside counterspells, and even save own creatures from removal.
This is a good card, but I think the 1/1 body will equate to a card too infrequently for this to replace one of the Into the Roil variants or Man-O'-War variants. Very good common though.
Only being a 1/1 isn't ideal but at 1U a body is a body and I like pushing blue tempo so I think i'll give this little guy a whirl.
