Grows fast to be a big threat, 2 power synergies, token synergies, takes over the game by itself but leaves value when killed by spot removal. Clone friendly.
Has a lot of the qualities good 5CMC cube creatures have.
This card interests me as well. The ability rewards heavy-green builds and worth noting there are already two very solid cube staple Oozes - Acidic Slime and Scavenging Ooze. Experiment One is also an Ooze, for those of us running green aggro.
Seems at minimum testable though I'm not sure what it would push out.
I also think it looks kinda spicy. It grows out of control quickly, has good intrinsic value, dominates games that goes long by itself, and has a ton of synergies built in. I may test this out in my cube.
This is pretty strong and can get out of hand really quickly. I like this more than Whisperwood Elemental since it has an ETB trigger. I wouldn’t mind testing this over Verdurous Gearhulk.
I am not sure how this compares to Deranged Hermit and Tendershoot Dryad. It is most likely stronger than Dryad in 1vs1 Cube.
Triple green and one colorless is a lot for just one 2/2 that maybe continues to grow.
I like that even if your opponent destroys your creature during their turn, you will still keep a 3/3, while Hermit and Dryad will only leave you with 1/1 creatures, although Hermit provides 4 of them.

Hermit >>> Ooze >> Dryad.
Not saying Ooze is bad, but Deranged Hermit is the strongest (non-evoke) pure 5-cmc creature, IMO.
Ooze having an ETB trigger makes it a lot more consistent than Dryad.
Kind of feels like green’s answer to Pack Rat. Imminently testable and I think Gearhulk will be my cut as well. 3-4 includes now in my 540 takes this set from “meh” to low-end average. I’m happy.
This is super exciting. I'm also definitely at least testing it, and sadly, it'll probably be Gearhulk for me. Mostly sad because I just picked up a foil a week or two ago.

Ackh! I hate when that happens. Or when you finally buy the foil only to realize there's a promo art you like more. Cube problems
Do you guys think it’s better than Whisperwood Elemental? That’s the comp that seems most apt to me. Grows faster but has less utility.
I like whisperwood more than almost everyone here heh, and think it's close.
The wrath protection and ability to sac itself will certainly be missed, and you have to pump more mana into the ooze to make it outpace the whisperwood...
BUT, the 2 power synergies are a solid bonus.. And if you are able to pump mana into it, it gets out of hand absurdly fast. The upside with Gaea's cradle is definitly a thing.
Didn't want to bias the thread too much with my initial post, but think it's one of the few cards in this set I can auto-include without (basically) any reservation. The only question I have now is what I want to cut..

I also think it's close between this and Whisperwood. They have similar positive interactions. The immediate ETB for guaranteed value is nice, but dying to all the shock variants before the token gets pumped is a pretty big downside. This card really comes down to how often I can see myself activating the ability, because I don't think it's close to an include without it. My gut says outside of mono-green ramp, or alongside specifically Gaea's Cradle, 1GGG is too much of a steep cost. I might test it, but it looks like enough of you are that I'll probably wait to hear feedback, because I'm skeptical.
Seems like a great mana sink, something green has been severely lacking in general (I ran Ant Queen for all of 5 seconds because I really wanted a mana sink creature). I'll definitely test this out once it rotates out and I can pick it up affordably.
I'll probably test/play this card in the #4 green 5 slot over Gearhulk. I do like it quite a bit more than Whisperwood because it's P/T generation matches it even without making tokens (both essentially make a 2/2 each end step). Whisperwood gives you wrath protection, but Ooze is able to take over a game on its own and gets immediate value against Doom Blades. The ability to win the game on its own is easily the best part of the card. Very excited to test.

My Cubes - The Busted Cube. A fully functional, almost 100% custom cube. The project started out by asking "What if other colors got cards on the power level of Mana Drain,Ancestral Recall, and Time Walk?" Draft and enjoy!
I want to test it, I was also looking for a green mana sink for a while and this looks decent for that purpose too. 1GGG is harsh though... I don't know. I'm interested.
I run and still like whisperwood a lot, but I'll give this a test.
However, I'm not convinced it's substantially better than ol' whispy (I do think it's probably better). It's pretty bad if your opponent had instant speed removal, and since all the red removal kills it and leaves you with just a 2/2 whereas almost none of the instant red removal kills whispy). It also doesn't provide any wrath insurance, nor does it give you the pseudo-card advantage whispy can. It does keep pace on P/T with whispy, though, even without any mana, and the mana sink option is great.
Very cool. I will probably test over Gearhulk, but I love that Gearhulk curves so beautifully into Wildfire (sometimes allowing you to have two creatures that survive the fire). Is cutting Thragtusk crazy talk?
