He's cool. But, I run Desecration Demon and I think I'll stay with him. Black might have things that don't mind being sac'd (and you might even be able to work that to your advantage), but it can't always be guaranteed and I'd rather not deal with that.
I like this more than Persecutor and Desecration, but that's not saying much because I think those creatures are utterly terrible. But, the creature sacrifice clause is a big deal when it matters, and I'd rather run a 4-drop that doesn't have that stipulation.
As an aside, Sewer Nemesis is pretty undervalued around here. I like it more than any of the other big stat-monster 4-drops that folks seem to like using.
I like Desecration Demon a lot more than this card, and I don’t even like DD much. Having tried to make Demonlord of Ashmouth and emerge creatures work at various points, this drawback is a lot steeper than it looks, and getting nothing but a statline out of the deal is just asking to get 2-for-1ed.
...much like the same way that Desecration Demon plays, except Nemesis has a better mana cost, can block effectively, can carry equipment effectively, and fuels graveyard synergies.
I don't play Sewer Nemesis at 450, but I'd add that in before any of the other oversized 4-drops in black, and by a HUGE margin.
Hrm, maybe I should find a way to get Sewer Nemesis back into my cube. He's a good man.
I think this card actually gives a lot to black (the worst cube color), especially the black-aggro deck. It is mostly composed of small recursive creatures Bloodghast, Bloodsoaked Champion, and Dread Wanderer are just some examples that I would totally be happy sacrificing and getting back later. I think he is worth testing.
I don't think Black is the worst cube colour. Far from it, actually. And I don't think this card is very competitive compared to other big beater options.
Drawback doesn't seem that significant. Trample also seems great at 4 mana.

It could see play in some decks, but the upside isn’t there for how narrow it would be.
I’d rather play abysal persecutor or rite of belzenok (and both those cards are very fringe as it is)

In other decks with without this, this could be *****.
As much as I'm 'meh' on Kalitas, at least he's a stats monster I don't have to pay extra costs for.
