I had a UB deck the other night but had drafted so many fixing/utility lands that I only ended up with two basics. My Island count was just two (including a dual) and I had two fetches that could get that dual. Not great for Shackles and so I ended up not playing it.
What Island count would you want in order to play this?
Edit: I have found that Shackles is great even with just two Islands in play. At least in the typical mtgsalvation powered type cubes. So I guess the question is how many Islands would you want in your deck to hit that threshold.
Probably 6 Islands or so in the deck for me, so I could count on 2 in play by turn 4 or so. Depends on the fetch situation, too. And it depends on the rest of the deck. Obvious more Islands are better.

I can't say I'm pleased to see you and must warn you I may have to do something about it.

The general rule I go by, is I want roughly half my lands to be Islands. So I guess 7 would be about the minimum, but I'd try to play 9 if my mana base would allow for it.
