Either a 2/1 Elvish Visionary or a 3/2 that scries 1 for 2 mana. Not 360 material obviously, but I can see larger cubes trying this. The inconsistency may be its downfall though.
Yeah, either 2-power card advantage or 3-power with scry seems good if you're trying to support green aggro at least. Maybe I'll try it over Duskwatch Recruiter for a bit.
I think this is worth its slot, but isn't going to be turning a lot of heads. I think it will ultimately abandoned by most, as competition is just too fierce. I'll add it.
This is in for me. A 3/2 for 1G with the option of dropping a card in the GY is solid for both aggro and reanimator. A 2/1 for 1G that draws you a land isn't bad value either. Not getting to choose which you want is a drawback, but neither should make a player unhappy. This is a somewhat poor topdeck later in the game, but a nice curve-filler that will probably make decklists more often than you'd think.
I'd be happy to bring down the overall CMC of my green section, so I'll probably cut a bigger card like Vorapede or Wolfir Silverheart for this. I don't think I'd play it over Duskwatch Recruiter; I really love that card. But for smaller cubes, I can see space being tough to come by for a role player like this one.
I am still on the lookout for a few more green critters that cost 1G and go into aggressive decks. This fits the bill. I am probably giving it a test drive.
It'll occasionally make the cut as a 23rd playable in a random deck. But it doesn't really contribute to any specific shells, and I can't imagine taking it from a pack unless there was literally nothing else on-color. Seems like a pretty easy pass for me.
Seems good for peasant cubes (and it will likely go into mine), but I don't think it will go into my main cube. I like explore as a mechanic, but not enough to push this over the top.
