No one is picking up the messenger due to BBB so I may swap this in.
Not sure if the end step trigger makes it much worse as you cannot cast it immediately except for cases where you got an Instant. One can argue though that you can immediately get the card the turn the orc comes into play as opposed to your next upkeep for Bob.
Geralf's Messenger is the same cut I identified for this at 720. BBB is just too tough a sell unless you're putting in a lot of monoblack support; I've been slowly working mine back out of the cube for more flexible options.
Not only can I not remember the last mono black deck I saw from my cube, but it's been literal years since I've seen a mono black deck do anything good, and that deck happened to rely on a lot of hexmage/dark depths wins. I'm not saying it can't work for others, but it's been historically weak in my experience for a lot of reasons.
I think I may try it in place of Mardu Strike Leader, just for testing purposes.

I can't say I'm pleased to see you and must warn you I may have to do something about it.

This is cool but probably a pass for me. It feels a turn slow? Getting the card EOT is pretty much like getting the card next turn unless you are running a bunch of instants. So it seems like a Phyrexian Arena that does more damage to you on average but can also attack. Definitely a good card but not sure I need it. I might be undervaluing the body though.
I think the guarantee (or near guarantee) of getting that card the turn you play it is pretty great. If anything Phyrexian Arena is the slow card in that comparison.
I didn't mean to suggest I thought it was slower than Phyrexian Arena. My point was they are equally slow. Getting a card at EOT is the same thing as getting it during your next upkeep unless you have a deck with a lot of instant speed spells. On T3, it's exactly like arena since you probably won't have any mana to cast whatever you draw until the next turn anyway.
As far as removal goes, arena is much harder to remove than this creature so again I sort of see this as a wash. Card is more guaranteed in a sense since it comes before your opponent untaps but they can more easily deal with a 3/2 than an enchantment.
I also don't think we should overlook the difference between losing 1 life for a card versus losing the CMC of the card you draw. Arena can go in midrange and control decks because it's safer and more consistent. Bob is a lot riskier to play in slower decks. I still jam him in a lot of builds anyway but truth is Bob's are suboptimal in more decks than Arenas.
Trying to figure out if this is good enough for a Powered 450 card cube. Probably not, but I really like it.

I'm going to try it at unpowered 450 for a while over Strike Leader. Black is reach in life loss critical mass, which sucks, but this card is new and fun and I like giving my cube lots of space to try out new stuff.

This is still the best place for high-power-level cube chat & debate.
