So, am I the only one who doesn't hate this? It's less reliable than Nevinyrral's Disk, but on average it's faster, and we all know how important that T4 wrath can be. Hitting planeswalkers means it's maybe harder to abuse, but it also catches you up from more problematic boardstates and is less clunky than the next best option, Oblivion Stone. And if you wait until the end of your opponent's turn to activate (frequently correct anyway), you'll get two swings at it. Seems worth a try unless you really hate variance.

This card is crazy good at resetting the board. An easy 2-1 or 3-1.

Coins hate me just enough that I know this effect will be unreliable in a pinch. Cool card, but I need consistency in my sweeper effects.

I think it's better than disk. Disks problem is its speed and having the option to blow up earlier is reaaally valuable. That being said I don't run disc anymore, and I probably won't acquire this so I probably won't test it. :/

But Disk also leaves all your 'walkers alive, which is really its main selling point now. And on average, both will activate around the same time, no? Except with the Disk, you're guaranteed T5 instead of sometimes T4 and sometimes ...never?

If this costed three would you play it?
I definitely would, sometimes a bcs, of a 50/50 and an acs of a turn 5 worldslayer, Is worth a terrible wcs. In matchups I really need a wrath I'd be willing to flip a coin for a colorless one, rather than wait a turn.

The average case scenario for this is exactly turn 5, the same as disk (sum of x/(2^(x-3)) from 4 to infinity)

Killing planeswalkers is a plus for me since I don't support superfriends as a strategy. Not sure if this is good enough to test though but its not terrible and I would run it over Disk.

I feel like having this on the board would force your opponent to hold back which can really mess with their game plan. Interesting card, fizzling would create some fun moments.

I can't abide coin flips on safety valve cards like this. When you need a sweeper you need a sweeper. Hard pass.

Agree with noshadowkick here. Sweepers need to be reliable. Would never run this over Disk, which is I no longer run but could make a return.

On average, this will do as good as disc, but lead to more fun games. My groups will love casting this, easy include.

You should run this card if you hate playing magic and want to flip coins instead. There's no way it's going to contribute to a better cube experience otherwise.

Because luck isn't part of card games, it's 100% skill, luck has no place in magic. /s

Yes, luck has a place in magic. But creating situations where the game hinges on a literal coinflip due to a single card on a regular basis is not going to enhance your experience.

Normally you will have occasional games that come down to a topdeck, usually because you've been grinding out a long game and you're at resource parity. Even if the ending was a single random event, you very much played a game of magic. If you run Boompile, I would expect lots of games to come down to a coinflip just because you played that card, and after the first one or two the player will not feel like they got to play magic.

There's already enough luck involved in Magic without needing to rely on winning a coin flip in order for the card to do something.

Mana Crypt is different, because the coinflips only determine the severity of the drawback. It always taps for 2 and costs me zero mana. If I lose flips with the Boompile, it does nothing, and probably just results in me losing a game I could've otherwise won with a different card in its place. Maybe your playgroup considers that a good thing, but I know we would hate it.

I stopped paying Pokémon TCG for a reason. That reason was coin flips.

It is worth noting that losing flips and just having Boompile on the field doesn't do "nothing," it pressures your opponent to hold permanents in hand because of the threat of losing them

I still probably wouldn't run it because Disk is better and even Disk is a borderline include for me

For the record, I'm pretty sure you can't respond to the result of the coin flip, meaning you would need to cast boros charm / sac selfless spirit without knowing if you will win the flip or not.

It might be worth replacing Larry Nevin's Disk because it can hit planeswalkers. That's the best thing going for it that I can see.

Overall I would call that a drawback, not a benefit, as sweepers see more play in the grindy control decks that usually play more walkers to begin with. My favorite part of disk is that it clears away everything but my walkers, letting me pull further ahead straight away.
