MTG Salvation

Monarch is such a fun mechanic. I'm not totally wild about this card, but I like it. I wish it were a a 4/4 for 3GG or something, because it feels awkwardly placed in most curves. But whatever. Monarch is awesome.

I really like it at 6 because green already has a glut of tremendously good 5-drops and several decent 7-drops. The casting cost is actually one of its big selling points to me. There is little competition and the ramp ability lets you drop Ugin or Primus next turn.

Ive been looking to add this guy since he was first revealed, but i feel like i already have enough 6 drops in green.

Is there such a thing as too many 6 drops?

It's a problem I wish I had in green. I can only find one good green 6-drop.

Im currently running three 6CMC green spells: primetime, rampaging baloths, and vigor, but im looking to sneak in the regal behemoth as a 4th. Is that too many at 480?

Edit- all though, ive also been considering trading our vigor all-together. Hes a bit of a pet card, but not so good outside of a wildfire strat, or pushing past a barricade with other growing tramplers while they trade damage for more power, but thats not reliable

I like Regal Behemoth more than Baloths and Vigor. Yes, I think 4 green 6 drops is too much for your cube size and would heavily consider cutting one.

Agree with metamind on all points. Behemoth isn't 'safe' but it's a very solid guy.

I decided to drop vigor for it, as it just does more for the same amount of mana. Decent trample body, card advantage, works with reanimator and wildfire, plus the occassional extra mana is nice if you maintain the monarch and have extra cards. Custodi lich was a house the last few drafts, so im hoping this guy can do some work too

At 450, I just run Titan and Regal Behemoth. Rampaging Baloths is OK, but not good enough for a slot. I'd love another great green 6 drop.

I don't mind playing Rampaging Baloths if I am drafting a cube that has it in there but I don't run it personally. I think it just misses most of the time.

That seems to be the gist with baloths. Peeps like playing it, so ive kept it in, but i do feel like its more of a seven drop that may only net you a 4/4.
