Creature - Dragon
Flying
Whenever a player cast an instant or sorcery spell that targets only ~, that player copies that spell for each other creature he or she controls that the spell could target. Each copy targets a different one of those creatures.
4/5
So if I am reading this right, it has psuedo protection against your opponent's single target removal where it will wipe their board if they try to kill it? And on your side it's Zada, Hedron Grinder? It's an interesting effect to say the least but not sure if it will beat out my red 5s either.
It's a cool design, providing some form of targeted removal protection and making your combat tricks work for your whole team (that also works for your opponent though). But for 5 mana, the protection is not reliable enough, most cubes don't run many combat tricks anyway, and the stats are not pushed enough compared to other red 5 drops. I wish it was smaller and costed 3 mana instead, then the ability would be insteresting.
He fails the Vindicate test harder than any other creature, so I'm not touching this guy with a 10 foot pole.
Pretty sure he destroys the vindicate test if they have any number of creatures they don't want to die out. Like if you're in a creature-stalled board and they need to get rid of the flier but not their whole team then they're kind of ****ed.
I like it (no surprise, I guess). The pseudo protection from removal is enough to get me excited for this guy. Admittedly, my red section is sorely in need of a shakeup though.
So we got the Lodestone Golem effect but it effects everything this time, not just golems. This guy dragon has very mediocre stats compares to other Thundermaw Hellkite and leaves your team extremely vulnerable to targeted removal. He fails the Vindicate test harder than any other creature, so I'm not touching this guy with a 10 foot pole.
Cool art though.
This set is gonna go down in history as having the most misread cards in years.

I'm officially proposing we retire the word "insane" from the MtG vocabulary.

We're not experiencing just power creep anymore, but also WORD creep.
I miss the days when power creep involved us losing our minds over Isamaru and Watchwolf.
Interesting creature but I have no need for another red 5 and this absolutely comes nowhere close to competing with Sarkhan/Thundermaw/SGC/Zealous Conscripts. Pass for me.
Fixed it for you. (Forgive me. I'm something of the stereotypical "everything sucks these days" guy.)
Isamaru and Watchwolf.
Creature creep has certainly made Vanilla (or anything close to them) look at lot less attractive to most cubers. But then we get guys like various non-white Savannah Lions and we're reminded that WotC has just been over-saturating the wrong colors with big bodies.
Creatures are way better, spells are much worse. It's a power creep, just not across the board.
Can we still claim that creature creep is legitimately a thing when the power level of most new bodies is equal to or worse than the Zendikar-Scars days? (I'm asking honestly.) I feel like creature creep just ramped up around the early part of this decade and then tapered off around Ravnica. Right now, power-wise, creatures are kinda running in place. There's still great new bodies, don't get me wrong; I just don't think we can legitimately call it "power creep" anymore.

I'm just going to keep on using power creep cause 1) its easier than breaking everything down as it's still correct, and 2) they're definitely still printing bonkers creatures. I only have to look at my cube and others to see how many new creatures are there compared to older ones, with a lot of those being from recent sets.
If we're talking solid 5 drops in red what about dominus of fealty. Granted it's hybrid with blue but it's still a solid card. 4/4 flier and at the start of your upkeep you can gain control of a creature they control for the turn. That paired with with something like curse of bloodletting can be a monster.

I broke down my unpowered cube a while ago into originally printed in old card frame set / Mirrodin and beyond, I believe it was 25% old / 75% new. I looked at how an "old school" cube would look like on a spread sheet based on this, the creature sections were looking pretty barren, lol.

It's a 4/5 flier for 3RR.
I used to write cube articles on StarCityGames, now for GatheringMagic and podcast about cube (w/Antknee42.)

What are the odds of this, realistically?
