I think the Troll is much more consistent as a discard outlet, sure, but this guy will probably have a much higher ceiling. Still, I think I will probably keep the Troll.
I actually really value his ability to "filter" your topdeck, since you can use Grim Flayer to "loot" your way through your library to try and find the answer you need. that being said, I think he might have a tougher time connecting early on, but he's definitely not a bad 3 or 4 drop. i like it! but not sure what i'd cut in my (380) golgari section
An interesting mix of Lotleth Troll and Sylvan Advocate, but I think he's weaker than either of them. A combat damage trigger on a 2/2 is just not reliable enough, and he will almost never enable himself with a single hit.

Troll still has the higher ceiling, this guy maxes out at 4/4.
I wish it was easier to pump him up. Trample is cool and some hits should enable delirium, but the 2/2 means the trample gets useless pretty fast. Maybe better in practice than theory? But even then, is it good enough to make one of the tightest guilds? I'd definitely prefer Abrupt Decay/Maelstrom Pulse/Pernicious Deed and then the alternatives for a potential 4th or 5th slot seem better too.
This guy is real dumb(in a good way) real fast with equipment. But For me the troll having regeneration and the threat of activation make it really good when I am not dropping my fatties.

From a size perspective, yes. But Troll doesn't filter your draws at all, which needs to be considered.
ive tried to limited regeneration in my cube so i currently run putrid leech instead of the troll. I think this guy will get in over the leech.
I can understand wanting to limit protection / shroud / hexproof, but regeneration seems odd to me. I can only count two that I'm playing are Thrun and Lotleth Troll. The only other playable regenerate card I can think of is Troll Ascetic.

My cube started off as a "janky" cube so i've run things like Silvos rogue elemental, lotleth troll, cudgel troll, cromat, ezuri, and flayed nim previously. the only one i have left in is experiment one. Since then my cube has evolved a lot but i still like keeping protection, hexproof, shroud, and regen to a minimum.

I wonder how often you can typically trigger the filtering while this is a 2/2? Just as long as the don't have any 2-power blocker, which is probably not a wide window.
And how often you need to trigger it to achieve delirium?
It's a good topdeck if you already have delirium.
Overall, I think I prefer Loleth Troll. More reliable discard outlet, more durable because of regenerate and grows more easily.
Fueling graveyards and filtering draws is great. And Delirium is a much better effect on a card that can dump up to 3 cards into your 'yard per turn. I think the issue will be connecting with him. As a bear, it trades with a ton of creatures that gum up the board, which isn't ideal for a card that needs to connect to generate value. Solid, and very worth considering because it's really fantastic if you can keep the path clear, but I fear the competition is too fierce in most Golgari sections.

Pretty much this. It reminds me a LOT of Voice of Resurgence. A very, very pushed creature at Mythic for a CD cost, which ends up just missing out for most owing to the shear competition and the need to get something a bit more universally useful (or archetype supporting) into the very limited slots. Add to that the fact that our G/B decks don't typically get a lot of creatures into the red zone early, which is what Flayer would like to see. But then again... this does support Loam effects and black's recursion. I'm quite a big fan, and shocked that we got a cubeable Delirium card, but will likely have to reluctantly pass.
Man, why couldn't they at least give this guy a 3rd toughness. Sylvan Advocate has better stats and is MONO COLORED.
That being said, I wish this was also mono colored, Golgari is way too stacked. As much as I do want to play this guy though, green and (finally) black aren't hurting for 2-drops right now.
Deathrite was mediocre when I had it in, but I see it in a lot of lists. GB combo enabler that fixes your draws and becomes a 4/4 trampler seems much better.
My Golgari section is too tight a the moment sadly. For me to consider this guy needed to be a 2/3 or have Haste. Asking too much probably but a 2/2 to attack into nothing on Turn 3 to gain value, sure it will happen or you burn a premo removal just to get his trigger or trade him into a 2/1?
At GG I'd say he'd be just about a slam dunk as is.
Golgari is very tight, but I have a soft spot in my heart for this card. Testing. I draft GB more than any other guild and always enjoy experimenting with new tools.
FWIW, It is absolutely cube worthy in power level ...It's a 2 drop with a better Scry 3 upon hit. has evasion to help connect AND Is a 4/4 in the mid game?? AND SYNERGIES WITH GITROG MONSTER.
Golgari has really tight competition, but for those still running Lotleth Troll (like me) this could be an interesting alternative.
Filtering your draws and fueling your graveyard is really good though.

Are you serious? This would be busted as a 3/3, they would never print that, let alone in a standard legal set.
