On the border of cubable because it can fetch forest duals. I wouldn't fault any larger cube from running this, but I think it's left out of cubes below 720. If the stats were anything better than 1/1 it would be fantastic.
Love it in EDH, playable in cube but very passable until you get into really large sizes. Has to compete with Kodama's Reach, Cultivate, Flipwalker Nissa, and Yavimaya Elder, and every other ramp spell that costs less.
As far as art goes, can't go wrong with either of the Rebecca Guays. I personally prefer the Portal one, it reminds me of some of the original Final Fantasy designs by Yo*****aka Amano.
I think the competition is too fierce for it to make the cut nowadays. Which is a shame, because there's two fantastic Guay pieces to choose from. I wish cubeworthy cards had that problem.
Looking at that list is kinda nuts. The vast majority of my 1CMC and 2CMC green creatures are devoted to ramp. I'm not really supporting aggro well, despite the presence of Jungle Lion, Experiment One, etc. All of that said, there just isn't much room for Wood Elves in the cast particularly. I sorta prefer elves that fetch lands out of the deck over guys that tap to produce mana. They feel a little more durable and they help thin the deck down. Despite being powered my cube games tend not to have their critical turn until much later than the average due to player skill. We're a mix of old hands who quit Magic in the 90s and new players with little experience. This leads to games that don't have their critical turns until turn 7 or 8. That's enough time for effects that fetch lands from the deck to have a significant effect on draw quality, it feels.
I tend to teach my playgroup about archetypes by beating them with them, the lessons stick better that way.
With a full suite of duals/shocks, I like Wood Elves more than Golden Hind, the two Rangers and the Wayfinder on that list. I'd rather have the true ramp than the additional +1/+1.
If you can stand the extra green in the mana cost, Yavimaya Dryad is a nice half-way point between the true ramp and the bigger stats (plus massive style points available if you ever win a game by giving your opponent a Forest to turn on its evasion).
Ya, I like the dryad, but the 1GG cost combined with the land entering tapped ultimately had it perform worse for us than the Wood Elves did. Ultimately we don't run either, but I think I give the edge to the Elves overall.
For a 3-mana critter that puts a Forest into play, I prefer Yavimaya Dryad because the body is more likely to trade off instead of just chumping in combat.

Always loved Wood Elves. One of my favorite Natural Order targets. Also has the great upside of having the land come into play untapped which enables some truly explosive starts with a great draw (6 drop on T3 with two other mana elves). Since relegating NO to the Pandora pack and dropping power level a bit more on the top end, this move has been weakened to the point where the 1/1 body for 3 is simply not worth the coalition relic impersonation. If I ever go back to more broken magic though, he's coming back in.

An idea that someone over at Riptide came up with for lower power rare lists that want to spice up drafts by introducing power cards into the mix. Basically, you seed your packs with a lore seeker (randomly or always, whatever) and the extra booster that gets added is created from a small group of random super broken cards (power 9, whatever you want really) instead of from cards in the main cube.
If you are already running a high powered list, this probably doesn't make a lot of sense. For me, it started as just a way to add some power cards I cut back into the drafts when guys wanted to play broken magic (truthfully, I just missed Recurring Nightmare). I didn't think it would last, but it ended up being a lot of fun. Calling it "Pandora" is simply because this can turn the draft upside down and not in a way that helps you the most. I've seen people pull the trigger on this and end up helping everyone else at the table more than themselves, so this can really backfire.
My current card pool for this is about 50 cards, so you really have no idea what you'll see. As my list is a low powered rare list, this pack is very often substantially better than an average pack.
It's funny, my opponent has been able to vote their Mana Crypt out of the game in addition to the target I voted for to keep the self-damage down. The working can feel awkward sometimes, but it does create cool interactions like that.
But ya, it's a non-targeting, exiling, mono-colored answer to pretty much everything, all for 3 mana. It's a staple.
I run Wood Elves because I have the tango duals and shocks, which are all fetchable, plus Dryad Arbor. Good stuff.
I don't have a Council's Judgement, but if I did, I would definitely run it. Gets around annoying shroud and hexproof creatures. Plays wonderfully in multiplayer cube.
I played heavy multiplayer, and I had to take it out. Because I vote first, my opponents always come together to vote against me. I'd never get to kill what I really want. In that case, I'd rather have O-ring or the like.
Completely obnoxious wording for two-player, causing issues both in real life and on MTGO.
Agreed, and because this card is not well known to people who haven't played cube or Conspiracy, this probably causes more confusion for newer players than any other card in my cube.

It's a popular card in Legacy also, and sees some play in Vintage too.

True, but those aren't formats that newer players tend to play either.
I thought the implication was new to Cube, not new to Magic. Cube is a complicated place for people that are completely new to the game; Judgment is probably the least of their problems if they're trying to learn the game in this environment.
I do mean new to cube, but I don't run into many players who are new to cube but have much experience with Legacy or Vintage. Neither format is played much where I live.

I don't run this card, but you've gotta love the fact that you have a choice of two different Rebecca Guay arts for this!
