I like Strike Leader a decent amount. Being in black means he can attack on a clear board in a lot of scenarios, and 2/1s are no joke.
I'm not a great bowler. I've never been 10-pin bowling, but we grew up with a couple candlepin lanes around us (small balls, long cylinder-shaped pins...get your head out of the gutter!) and I'd do good some matches and horrendous in others.
Really like this card a lot. It's a good beater, a good token maker, and makes curving out really easy as it can be played multiple places on the curve. Great card overall for black.
I am absolutely awful at bowling. Like the bottom of trash tier.
I LOVE this card! It is the kind of cards that are deceptively powerful, and it can run with the game all by itself... Also, Dash is an amazing mechanic and I wish to see it again.
Mardu Strike Leader just misses the cut for me at 450, but only because the competition is absolutely brutal for black 5s these days. However, with three of those black 3-drops being Lilianas, maybe Liliana, Heretical Healer should go to make room for MSL?
I took bowling as one of my PE requirements in college, and because I was terrible when I started and my average went up to around 150 by the end of the class I was actually the most improved bowler in my class. I don't bowl much anymore, though, so I'm lucky to break 100 now.

In my cube black is only a supportive color in aggressive decks. I think that is the reason I play Fleshbag Marauder before the strike leader. Black agro is something I've been expanding, and I think fleshbag is exactly what I'd swap for the strike leader. I've been considering strike leader and fleshbag is exactly who I'd cut for him.
My bowling abilities are long gone, but in my first two years of high school I was the anchor on the school's team. I averaged right at 200, my all-time high game is 280, and I threw two handed.

I was just thinking the same thing about cutting the Heretical Healer. I guess the other option is to cut either Vampire Nighthawk or Drana for it?

I like Liliana, Heretical Healer WAY more than Liliana, the Last Hope. I will admit the only time I've played with The last Hope is in a prerelease but I don't ever see my self taking it over Heretical Healer. I think I'd take Strike Leader over Last hope.
I run him because he is 2/1 for 1, the rest is pretty much flavor text, even more so than Mardu Woe-Reaper's text. I'm sure he'll be replaced in the future once a more interesting or simply better card comes along.

I'm in the same boat, but I would argue that Mardu Woe-Reaper's text is a lot more than just flavour text. Exiling a problem creature from an opponents graveyard whilst sticking to an aggressive strategy is surprisingly relevant (there are also a couple of other warriors in the aggressive decks), even in top deck mode he is one of the better 1 drops the aggressive deck can draw since he gains life and can shut down certain strategies.
I have never been hunting, it used to appeal to me but it lost its luster as I got older.
I've definitely sided in Mardu Woe-Reaper in random match ups where exiling a creature is actually super efficient. On Dragon Hunter: 2/1s for W are good. I could see it getting outclassed someday as WotC clearly aren't afraid of printing 2/1s for W with upside.
Never been hunting, but have gone fishing a lot which is kind of like hunting in concept. I'm still a terrible fisherman, but if you go with the right people it's fun.
I run Elite Vanguard over this because I don't want to run a card just because it is "theoretically" better than another even though 99% of the time it is functionally the same. If I were to replace the vanguard it would be for Soldier of the Pantheon... but that will only happen when someone Vindicates my 2/1 for . I have been expanding agro across my entire cube, so in the near future I may be in the market for another 2/1 for . If I do find I want another I would probably just add the Savannah Lions. I really like the streamlined feel of vanilla 2/1s for one.
I don't hunt.

You'd be surprised. Looking at your list in your sig, it has protection from 26 of the cards where protection would be relevant, which is a decent amount for a 360. Like it's not out of the question for Electrolyze to target Soldier or for Baleful Strix to sit in the way.

Soldier will probably replace a white control spell. I'm probably cutting Secure the wastes for him. I'll still run vangard over hunter untill someone in my group complains, but you are definitely right. The text on soldier isn't flavor text, and it should be ran over vanguard if they were fighting for the spot.
I like this card and play it often in BW and RW aggro decks.
I like to bird hunt, but I'm terrible at it. I think in the last four years, I've hiked 100+ miles and pulled the trigger twice. I just like walking with dogs and shotguns.

Not my favorite Savannah Lions variant, but it's not bad. The reach against dragons will typically mean nothing, but it's something over a basic Elite Vanguard. I prefer Savannah Lions for oldschool vibe, Elite Vanguard for soldier synergy, and Soldier of the Pantheon because I run a bit multicolor heavy, and has soldier synergy.
The abilities on Mardu Woe-Reaper and Soldier of the Pantheon are relevant quite frequently, while Dragon Hunter has yet to brick wall Thundermaw Hellkite in any of my drafts, but I'm still happy to have any Savannah Lions with any upside whatsoever.
I grew up in the 'burbs, and now I live in a country where it's very illegal to have a gun, so no hunting for me. I eat meat all the time, though, so I'm hardly opposed to it on principle, and any chance I've had to eat game meats have been very welcome.
