Same vein of conversation but different card--what if Skullclamp only drew 1 card? Would it still be oppressive? Obviously not to the same degree, but is drawing 1 off of clamp activations still insane?
I was thinking that but I dont know if "1, sacrifice a creature: draw a card. Play this ability as a sorcery." would make the cut; you are just cycling creatures rather than gaining card advantage (unless your playing tokens).
Jitte is probably the single most powerful card in unpowered cubes, to the point where it's almost never correct to pass it in a draft. Banning it based in power level is a perfectly reasonable decision if your playgroup doesn't like it. Once it gets a few charge counters on it, it takes over most combat situations and puts the opponent on a fast clock.
So if you have a combo cube or just a really large amount of cheap instant speed creature removal, Jitte can underperform.
This is a really good point. Like any equipment, even Jitte can be a liability against an instant speed removal heavy control or tempo deck, where you'll sometimes be better off with more creatures and/or burn.
I'm running the FTV foil because it's the only way to have a shiny version at a remotely reasonable price, but hey, gotta love those bullet points.
I believe WoTC's new policy is to make sure that every color can enjoy the exciting gameplay mechanic of making undercosted dudes and then turning them sideways. Clearly the future of magic.

Fleecemane Lion is a sweet beatdown creature. There are a lot of color combinations it would be great in, but the competition in the Selesnya slot is too congested to find room for it, IMO.
The better watchwolf. Oh how the game has changed. I never ran it in cube but if GW were beatdown, It would probably be a high pick I'm guessing. In monstrous mode it's pretty much unstoppable outside Terminus or Languish.
Yes. Had long hair for many years. Went through quite a bit of conditioner.
I've never played Fleecemane Lion, but I did have long hair for several years. When I cut it off at 16, I donated like 18" to Locks of Love.

I ran Fleecemane Lion in the early days of my cube, and it was quite good. It's above the curve, and is really hard to deal if it's allowed to go Monstrous. It's got some really tough competition, though, as Selesnya is quite deep and there are already two excellent two-drops in Qasali Pridemage and Voice of Resurgence, which are probably more essential for most cubes. Pridemage is just about as aggressive as the Lion early, while providing another Disenchant on a stick, and Voice of Resurgence provides too much value while punishing opponents for using instants when they want to. In a larger cube, or one that really wants to commit to making GW aggressive I could see running the Lion, but I just can't find room in my cube.
I had shoulder-length hair for most of high school and college, but I've been too thin on top to get away with it for quite a while.

I still run Fleecemane, though if/when I ever pickup another Voice of Resurgence I'll make the swap. It's a good beater, and once it's monstrous is is quite difficult do anything about beyond chumping or slugging against. Qasali Pridemage is the card it closest compares to, but pales in that while both are early beaters, Monstrous just pales to the utility of an easy to cast disenchant.
I've donated a few times, though because of my current job I kinda have to keep it short to look professional. Especially since I'm still the new guy. Image is everything.
love secure the wastes! scaleable instant speed token generation is great! love pumping a geist-honored monk with it or chumping a big guy and getting in for a nice crack back.
I find artwork bothers me more than flavour. But one thing that came up in my cube recently is that I run all the origins flip walkers and then one walker per colour. I wanted to have each main colour walker match the flip walker character but I like elspeth so much that I included her instead of gideon, ally of zendikar. Gideon is a great cube card too but right now i'm just so tired of him and those sideburns in standard.
Secure is a solid card. Scaleable and splashable. The power/cost ratio is low compared to other token makers, but it's a fine card.
Batterskull makes no sense to me. Lifelink and vigilance are like the last two abilities I'd associate with a battering ram... Great card obviously, but it feels like a flavor fail to me.
I'm not running it right now, primarily because it's too far below the curve to fit into most aggro decks (unless they have anthems), and not particularly desirable in more controlling decks. I do support token/anthem decks quite heavily, but all of my token generators come in creature form. Should I be reconsidering this?
Mishra's Factory doesn't really make sense to me on flavor grounds. A factory should be making tokens, but this just turns into a creature. I routinely mock Rolling Earthquake whenever it gets cast as well, because I don't care how good you are at riding a horse, that is not going to protect you from an earthquake.

Secure the Wastes is always fun, it's definitely one of the best surprise win conditions that can steal games out of nowhere. Also wombo-combos with Mirari's Wake.
Not sure if it classifies as a flavor fail, but Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist was pretty disappointing to a lot of people.

I believe WotC's defense was "it has lifelink because teeth!"
I love Siege-Gang Commander still. 5 power and 4 bodies is a lot for 5 mana, and with the built-in reach and removal, it's a great way to either stabilize a board OR close out a game. And despite being a great card on its own, it's also a great card for its interactions. It's a 2-power ETB creature for Nightmare/Lark/Feldon/Vat/Recruiter/Alesha/bounce/flicker shells, and it plays really well in token based decks too. It's easily my favorite 5cc creature in red.
I've tried a few tribal themes over the years, and it hasn't worked out as well as having the synergies naturally come together with otherwise intrinsically good cards.
Siege-Gang Commander is awesome. It feels especially great if you played Krenko, Mob Boss the turn before and suddenly have a board of 10+ goblins starring your opponent down.
The first iteration of my cube was terrible mess because I wanted to do something different, so of course I included lots of mostly obscure tribal themes: Soldiers, Minotaurs in BR since it was during Theros standard (including Didgeridoo), Slivers all over the place (feat. Hivestone and Sliver Overlord), Apes (because Uktabi Kong was in there too) and two Shapeshifters in each color to help those tribal decks. Spoiler: It didn't work very well and I think it only took me half a year to admit to it.
There's still light support for BR Goblins in my current cube, but I try to not make it to parasitic (for example I run Tarfire over Shock, and Wort, Boggart Auntie as a payoff if a drafter manages to pick up a critical mass of goblins).
Siege-Gang Commander has all the synergies in the world (2-power / tokens / incidental tribal / etc), has great reach, goofy art, and is under $2! Perfect cube card in my book.
Other than incidental zombie / goblin synergies that are good on their own (Siege-Gang, Gravecrawler, Kalitas, Rabblemaster, etc), I've messed with human tribal. Didn't like it that much and ultimately cut out the payoff cards, but I do miss playing Mayor of Avabruck.
Currently I have some tribal support for zombies, goblins, and elves in my cube. But most of these tribal interactions are from good cards that would be in regardless and the only cards I include that I wouldn't otherwise are lord of the undead, graveborn muse, dragon fodder, and dwynen, gilt-leaf daen
there are always new creatures in these types coming out and I do consider it if I am looking to make an include.
Siege-Gang Commander is great for all the reasons everyone has already said. I especially love it in Purphoros decks.
There are plenty of goblin and zombie synergies in my cube, but nothing explicitly tribal. I've thought about including Champion of the Parish to mix up white a little bit, but lots of the +1/+1 counter synergies with other cards in my cube aren't Humans, making things a little awkward.

SGC is a house. Rock solid, even if you're not supporting a goblin theme. Original art is vastly the superior choice, and I quite often will P1P1 it, if nothing absurd is in the pack. It works divinely with flicker/bounce effects, is a Lark target, can be snatched by Imperial Recruiter and Recruiter of the Guard, can clog a board, nuke pesky creatures or the face straight up.
Siege-Gang is popular. Do people feel similarly to the car Pia and Kiran Nalaar? Why or why not?
Pia and Kiran are pretty definitively an artifact shifted version of SGC, and usually will work well in the cube because of mana rocks. But because SGC costs 5, and P&K costs 4, it's perfectly fine to run both in the cube, and I do at 450.
I've thought about trying to work together a 360 tribal cube, but haven't done that yet. My cube proper doesn't directly support any tribal, though there are several goblins, like BBC and Guttersnipe to go along with SGC.
