This is probably one of my favorite creatures in cube/magic. The selection of cards it hits is stellar, largely because you almost always have an option that ****s your opponent. Sometimes a 5 mana Avalanche Riders is what you want in a scenario, and when you have bigger problems you might still have the answer, and if you have a bigger-CREATURE problem then you at least have a road block for a lot of those, and then if you need to get in damage through those guys then you have a creature that no one really wants to trade for. Acidic Slime is 99% of the time a 2 for 1, and when it's just the threat of one it's doing serious work. Maybe I'm biased as it's one of my favorite cards, but I would play slime down to the smallest cube size.
Oysters are pretty slimy, and also pretty delicious.
I like Acidic Slime since it is a solid amount of value; it blows up a non-planeswalker, non-creature permanent then it usually trades up in combat with anything it blocks.
I don't often tend to eat slimy things... I was going to make an off-colour joke but I wont.

Manic Vandal was in my cube but I cut him, though he looks better and better as my artifacts get stronger. I think I might prefer reckless reveller though since you don't need a target on the board to feel ok playing him.
I tend to prefer my artefact removal to be flexible, most often in the form of modal things.
What perfect timing for this card! In complete contrast to the narrowness of Manic Vandal, Acidic Slime is just great. It answers just about any non-planeswalker threat (even creatures oftentimes due to Deathtouch). This is what I want my artifact removal to be.
The ability to hit lands makes a lot of players more comfortable maindecking this as their naturalize effect of choice, since it's never wanting for a target. It's a good utility creature, though the higher casting cost makes it much slower at dealing with critical early targets.
Slime is a slamdunk in most higher powered cubes. Both because it can hit lands, artifact and enchantments - meaning it's flexible and never dead - but also because it has deathtouch and isn't useless as a blocker or attacker. 5 mana is a lot for a body that weak and without the deathtouch, this card would be significantly worse.
One of my favorite cards in the cube, strong, but not oppressively so. Somewhat abuseable with blinking and repeated bouncing. Lark target, Imperial Recruiter target, Recruiter of the Guard target. Balanced by being a 2/2 deathtoucher for 5 mana, but is still the mayor of Valuetown.
Deep fried calamari. Had the consistency of breaded lubricated rubber.
I like Acidic Slime quite a bit. It's great value and never wants for a target.
Slimiest thing I've eaten might be eel?

One of the most versatile removal-on-a-stick creatures in cube with a body that's relevant at any stage of the game, I love Acidic Slime. It's also a great way to get land destruction into cube, and since it's green, it's not unusual to see it get ramped into in order to disrupt an opponent's mana base as early as turn 3 in an unpowered cube. Having Creeping Mold on a stick is fantastic, I'm hoping one of these days we get a cubeworthy Bramblecrush on a stick.
I prefer the FNM promo art for Acidic Slime because it looks much more menacing, even if the slime in the FNM art looks a bit large for a 2/2.
Korean cuisine has no shortage of slimy foods, but probably the slimiest I've tried is ojingeo-jeotgal, a spicy pickled squid side dish that tastes much better than it looks or sounds.

I like how it can destroy lands. There are a lot of utility lands as well as man lands this would like to eat up. Worst case, you disable that splash or hinder mana development by a turn. Then you have a good chump blocker.
It's essentially a one mans planeswalker and a great addition to any cube imo.
He definitely has a spot in my cube

I like DRS in cube, but I wouldn't call it a one-mana 'walker in a cube context. The reason it's so good in Legacy (and apparently in Vintage) is that in those contexts it will almost always have each of its modes active, especially the first one. In cube it's more a cool utility creature that can work as extra reach in Bx decks, keep you alive, hose reanimator and do all sorts of other nifty stuff, but it's pretty rare to have all of these modes active and relevant at once. It's not completely bonkers, and as such I wouldn't fault people for running more premium BG removal or something funny like Life/Death over it.
I'm not running fetches in my cube yet so DRS isn't as strong as it should be. But incidental gravehate is awesome. How did this creature ever get printed?
My favorite 1 drops for cube are Mother of Runes, Joraga Treespeaker, and Goblin Welder.

I like DRS a lot, but it doesn't always act like the champ it is in Legacy. (Where it's really just the grossest creature.) It's a pretty excellent midrange creature, still giving your deck something to do if there isn't a fetch on a lot of boards, and it feels pretty nice when you're playing B/x and you have a ramp creature.
Best 1 drops are prob either Goblin Guide, mom, or Joraga Tree Speaker.
Deathrite is a great cube card. Unlike in constructed where it's a mana dork with an upside, DRS is used differently in this format. It's a source of reach, lifegain and graveyard hate that can sometimes ramp/fix mana as well. It functions more like a Grim Lavamancer or sorts; providing additional value from previously spent resources. And it always seems to provide a useful effect regardless of the matchup. Against aggro, the lifegain is great. Against control, being able to sneak in a cheap source of reach is excellent. And against a lot of decks in this format, the graveyard hate is useful. Everything from stopping reanimator to preventing recursive creatures, crippling Feldon/Alesha/'Lark effects, crippling Loam/Crucible shenanigans ...it just does a lot of stuff. Oh, and it has a casting cost of ...
The best 1-drop in the cube is probably Goblin Guide.
I couldn't agree more with wtwlf's assessment. You're lucky if you can tap it for mana once or twice in a game, but you can pretty much always find something useful to do with it for as long as it sticks around, and with a minimal investment. However, players who carry over expectations from Constructed of it being a Bird of Paradise with upside are bound to be disappointed.
I think Mother of Runes is the best 1-drop for cube, it does so much on offense or defense for so many kinds of decks.

1 mana planeswalker is pretty good. Though I would say he's more balanced in a singleton cube than in modern/legacy constructed because you're not going to be seeing tons of fetchlands always in the yard, so he's not a manadork with upside all the time, and occasionally not an ideal turn 1 play, as nothing will be in the yard for him to abuse on turn 2.
Best one drops would be somewhere between Grim Lavamancer, Mother of Runes, and Goblin Guide, pending on how you're running your deck.
Yeah, a lot of people misconceive DRS in cube compared to Legacy / Vintage / Modern (assuming it was ever legal there, I dunno). Its mana ability was why you play it in constructed, but that's probably the most inconsistent of the 3 abilities in cube. Nonetheless, it's still good value creature. I think it's in the top 4-6 Golgari cards
depending on your tastes. I personally hate DRS because of how much it impacted Legacy when it first came out (I was playing A LOT of Legacy then).
Assuming you're talking best one-drop CREATURE, I'd have to go with Goblin Guide since it's the one I'm most likely to P1P1.
Now that I think about it, I used to be a strictly Legacy only played until RTR came out. DRS warping the format is what made me play less Legacy and get into Cube in the first place, so I guess I owe it that.
