Never really liked CoCo; a lot of the power comes from the redundancy, something we could never hit in cube.
Don't pay attention to standard at all. Sometimes I'll watch a tournament if it's on twitch and I'm just hanging out or on youtube if there's a deck that's cool and I want to see it played, but mostly I just consume all things cube and if I want constructed I'll look for modern/legacy/vintage videos cause I think they're more dynamic.
As an aside, those are formats where I really start considering cards for cube. Like Treasure Cruise for example--when Bob Huang won that tournament with UR Delver playing Treasure Cruise in delver and it was so clearly sorcery speed Ancestral Recall, it was like Hmmmm that doesn't seem like a bar that can't be reached in cube. Has it replicated the same results in cube? Not really, but it's been good, and I first really started considering it because of how dominant it was in that tournament.
Good article, I really like Nick Nobody's detailed analysis of cube cards. I haven't tried CoCo either, but I can't see any reason to believe that his and wtwlf's findings are wrong. The card looked too narrow and hard to build around for cube, so I traded off the only copy I ever pulled while it was still red hot in Standard and Modern. When I saw it in Legacy Cube drafts, it looked like a (deliberate?) trap for players who only knew it from Constructed formats.
Whenever there's a breakout card in Standard or Modern, I do like to give it a spin in my cube if it doesn't look too hard to build around. However, I'm even more inclined to add cards that have recently been banned in Modern. I like to take advantage of the buzz around it, and if it's too busted for that format it'll probably at least be decent in cube. That reminds me, I've gotta go dig up my copy of Ancestral Visions and re-add it....
I'm also a big fan of that blog site and agree with his analysis on this card. That said, many people have had success with this in lower powered rare lists. So if you are not running a traditional high powered list and find the card interesting, I wouldn't write it off. The effect is powerful if you build a meta that can maximize it (which is definitely possible). I've had mixed results in my own midrange list. That said, it overlaps nicely with top of library mechanics (brainstorm, miracle cards, things like courser and oracle of mul daya).
First remark is that it never saw maindeck or sideboard play from a deck that doesn't have access to both colors. Even in Dimir decks it didn't always make the cut in favor of more versatile and/or efficient answers. I no longer play it. As I said in another thread, I think Dimir is a shallow guild.
Furthest I've been from home is the southern point of New Zealand, ~15,800 km away according to google.
I don't like Far//Away. I don't run it, and I don't cube with it when drafting other cubes, and it would certainly never make the final 40 of a cube deck without access to both blue and black mana.
Furthest away for me would be Venice (I live in Arizona).
Far // Away was part of the original build of my cube out of RTR and THS block draft leftovers, and I kept it for quite a while.

I'd agree with this now, but I originally categorized it as a hybrid which I now realize was a mistake. It's great when cast fused, but the other modes are overcosted to the point where there's no reason to put it in a deck for just one side of the card. Dimir isn't the deepest guild, but there are much better cards that support archetypes worth pushing way better than this. I'm still quite happy with it in my Peasant cube, though.
The farthest away I've been from my hometown of Buffalo, NY is Koh Lanta, Thailand, near the Malaysian border. That's 14,386 km according to Google.

Far // Away is pretty far from being put into my cube. I like to keep basically redundant effects away from my gold sections.
Farthest I've been from my home in Montana is Bali, in Indonesia. We spent two weeks there playing gamelan music at temple festivals in the interior two summers back, and kicked it at a beach resort for a few days for fun. Great place and great folks.

Far//Away is a good card. Flexible but also a bit unexciting. I always waver between providing generically useful cards like this in my guild section versus archetype enabling cards. Not sure there is a right or wrong on that.
I'm surprised to see so much negative responses about Far//Away. I don't think it's a bad card at all and I wouldn't be unhappy to cube with it if I saw it in another cube. I'll admit that it turned out to be not as powerful as I had hoped, but I'd say it's pretty far from bad. I'd give it a solid fine.
Farthest away from home for me is Niagara Falls, Canada. I'm in Tennessee.
Far // Away certainly isn't strong enough for my main cube, but it's probably not bad in Peasant.
Living in what is reputedly the most isolated capital city on the planet (Perth, Australia), I've managed to get a fair way from home quite a few times. Furthest is probably Stoke-on-Trent in the UK (and being from Australia, we drove there from the Cotswolds and back down to Oxford in a day - more than 200 miles... watch all the British people laugh at the Aussie who likes to spend his life on the motorway).

I wouldn't say it's bad, and I'd also say it's a fine and flexible removal/tempo spell, it just anywhere near as exciting as the rest of the gold options in Dimir:
A deathtouch dragon that steals the opponent's best creature or planeswalker
A discard outlet that can take over games by itself for 3 mana
A 1 mana 4/5 that fills the yard and keeps you in gas (Tasigur lives in my Dimir section)
A 3 mana planeswalker that can win the game on its own while Briberying
I think Emrakul, the Promised End put the nail in the coffin for Mindslaver to ever have a chance of re-entering my cube. I think it's too expensive for an effect that can be wildly inconsistent.
I'm not much of a casual hat wearer, so the "hat" I wear most often would be my fire helmet I guess...
I have never actually cubed with this card but did briefly consider adding it when I fleshed out my artifact section. Seemed too expensive to cast/activate.
I only ever wear hats when it's cold out/I am camping. Beanie.

This. It's extremely hard to justify Mindslaver without access to multiple Goblin Welders / Daretti.
I can't stand wearing anything over my head, my hair is too baller to cover up (this may or may not be a lie). I'll only wear a hood or a beanie if it's raining or I'm going to spend an extended amount of time outside during the worst days of winter or if I'm shoveling the driveway.

I have wondered sometimes why this doesn't see play in more powered cubes that support the artifact deck, it seems like it has potential to be great as a Welder/Daretti target, but is this just less effective than beating face with a giant robot? It does seem like a fun and interesting buildaround/win condition, but I've never tried it so I'm curious.
If I ever ran this, it would have to be the Scars version. The Volkan Baga art looks way better, the rules text matches the Oracle text, the flavor text it pretty sweet, and there's no outdated reminder text about mana burn.
I wear tacky baseball caps on vacation, and a cheesecutter or a beanie in the winter.

I love mindslaver, as I like having fun when my opponent is not, but it's certainly hard to justify it's inclusion without the entire daretti/welder package. That being said, a slaver lock is as brutal as a Time Vault lock, since it essentially means your opponent has stopped playing magic. While an expensive effect, I think the redundancy of recursive effects is either just there or almost there.
I used to wear hats a lot, but now I have long luxurious curls and women love long luxurious curls so, you know, I let 'em flow lol when I have my hair down I get compared to Jon Snow a lot, it's a really nice problem to have
Slaver only exists in cubes for slaver locks, and that didn't lead to fu gameplay for me so I removed it.
I hate hats. I wear them because I officiate high school/ college sports and its part of the uniform for those, but hats make me overheat. Can't remember the last time I wore a hat by choice.
I've considered adding Mindslaver because I want the effect, but I think once I pick up an Emrakul, I'll have it anyway. If the cube gets way bigger, I'll definitely consider it again. Just seems like a sweet, story-making card. I used to hate playing against Blue Tron in Modern because of the lock, but it was always memorable.
I wear beanies when it's chilly out. Almost never baseball caps unless I'm playing softball. I used to wear a newsboy cap when I was in college because I was in college. When you study philosophy, it's sort of part of the deal.

Standard can give inspiration, but the more powerful the cube becomes the less you can import from that format.
