Memory Lapse is a great tempo counter. In the early stages of the game, Remand is better when the opponent doesn't have the ability to recast the spell immediately. But in the late game, I prefer Lapse because I know I'm not seeing that countered spell again until after I've taken my next turn.
I'm bad with names, but can remember pretty much everything else.
Re: Young Pyreezy - Solid red card. I love it in spells matter (which I try and support with stuff like Isochron Scepter) and it generates so much value for two mana in general.
Re: Memory Lapse - I was really happy when this card got reprinted in Duel Deck: Jace vs Vraska and again in EMA, since then I could officially include it in my cube with the Modern-frame design restriction. The EMA art is probably my favorite.
I'd say I have a pretty good memory but it can definitely be selective.
I forgot to take my laptop to work last night so I'm going to give my 2 cents on Young Pyromancer as well. Lil peezy is good in every red deck in cube, or in my cube at least. Even in the mono red deck there is enough burn for this to be worth playing. I currently don't consciously support a spells matters deck, but in vintage cube I don't think "spells matter" is too far off from counter-burn. You'd have to play Jeskai, but I do have Monastery Mentor, Thing in the ice, Young Pyromancer, and the usual Snapcaster mage alongside Jace, Vryn's Prodigy.
I am also very happy to play Memory Lapse. Just like with Young P in red I cant imagine being in blue and thinking "I will never want to cast this". Memory Lapse also makes my favorites list because of the Guay art. I am one promo Path to Exile away from having every card in my cube with a Guay art printing in its Guay art Printing.
Usually I am rather on point, but I cant say I don't forget things when I started this post by explaining how I forgot my laptop last night. Lastly, can someone please tell me, or tell me where to go to find out, how to put specific card versions in a post. I already know the Path to exile tag will show the fnm promo while I am clearly talking about the DCI promo.
A great tempo counter. I know the term "staple" is frowned upon by some, but I would call Memory Lapse a staple. There just aren't that many 2-mana hard counters around. This makes it very valuable for all but the smallest cubes. And while Lapse stops a spell only temporarily, that will often be enough to be totally worth it. Even in a non-tempo deck like a control deck, delaying your opponent's early beater by a turn might buy you all the time that you need to stabilize.
There are two good options in the objectively superior 8th edition border: The Duel Deck's Guay art and Eternal Masters' Staples art. I really can't decide which one I like more.
I sometimes feel that I am very forgetful when it comes to stuff that matters (work, birthdays, real people's names), while having a very good memory for stuff that doesn't really matter (movies, games, Magic card names).
Memory Lapse is one of the most underrated counterspells out there. It may not have ever had much impact on Constructed formats, but in singleton cube environments it really has the opportunity to shine. It's splashable, and it reliably delays whatever the opponent is casting for a full turn while blanking the next draw step. As much as I like Remand, if it's in the same pack as Memory Lapse, I'm taking Memory Lapse over Remand every single time. Since I also like for my cube to be a living museum of the history of the game, I love the fact that Memory Lapse gives us a good reason to include a card from Homelands, often considered the worst set ever printed.
I don't think any of the art for Memory Lapse is particularly good, but both of the original Homelands arts hold a great deal of nostalgia value for me, so I am running an full-art alter of the one showing a woman's head with puzzle pieces missing from it in my unpowered cube. I'm currently running an EMA foil in my Peasant cube, but I have my eye on a judge foil of Memory Lapse (incidentally, one of the cheapest judge foils available) to showcase the other Homelands art.

It is a super good card, but doesn't get the respect it deserves because it doesn't send the card to the yard. I also run it and several variants in my Narset EDH, along with one in the cube. I prefer the homelands art where the chunk is falling out of the guy's head. Just weird and wonderful.
Burst Lightning is a decent burn spell. I wouldn't mind replacing it someday, but the replacement would need to surpass the flexibility of the Burst. That's unlikely to happen. Cubeworthy burn spells that can deal 4 damage are pretty rare.
I'd like to see a Duress with a kicker option that either lets you draw a card or get two cards. I'd also like to a kicker option on Giant Growth that would be good enough so that we'd get a cubeworthy combat trick.
I like the flexibility of Burst Lightning: picks off early threats as good as Lightning Bolt early game and can take down bigger things / do more damage later. I'm in no hurry to replace it.
Would be nice to have Hymn to Tourach / Sinkhole have some sort of kicker.
Burst Lightning is super solid. Flexible and always a good draw. I'm a fan.
I'd like to see a Rune Snag-esque counterspell (a "counter unless you pay 2" counter) with an Into the Roil kind of kicker on it that could turn it into a pseudo-Dismiss.
Even though I'm probably casting Burst Lightning as Shock about 85% of the time, it's great to have that option to deal an extra 2 in the late game for larger targets or as a finisher. I'd like to see more cubable cheap burn spells, so I'd really love to see another Shock+ with a different kind of kicker, maybe a Falter effect for an additional 2R.

In my 360 power list burst lightning just doesnt make it against Lightning bolt, Chain Lightning, and Rift Bolt. I play Vexing Devil in the slot this would probably go in and I think its just a more interesting card.
My rakdos section looks like this: Dreadbore, Rakdos Cackler, Blightning, Murderous Redcap. The return could replace blightning, BUUUUUT blightning on curve is literally Mind twist with a free Lava Spike stapled to it. I don't know if it really impacts the returns playability, but my list already has mind twist. So in my 360 powered list I don't think I personally want Rakdos's Return, but If I did't play Mind twist I might, and I think this would be an auto include at any size above 360.
The character I want to get a card the most would be a toss up between Mishra, Karn, and Vraska. I'm not sure of any of their whereabouts in the timeline because I'm not super into lore. One or all of them could be dead and I wouldn't know, but I want Mishra and Karn because I think the original storylines would be awesome to revisit, and Vraska the unseen is one of my favorite cards/wincons in the game.
You need to be paying 3BR before this is better than Blightning, and it's been a long time since I've wanted to cube Blightning. There are some matchups where this card can be really strong, but overall I feel it's too slow for powered cubes.
I want them to revisit the Rath cycle era characters.
Yes, too expensive and limited in what it can do. Late game it is mostly just burn to the face, hence irrelevant for all but aggressive decks. Aggressive decks cannot play return because it is too slow.
I actually think Blightning is more playable today than a few years ago (not as far back as the time it was released because there was little competition then) because of planeswalkers.
Some cards are really strong in standard, like Rakdos's Return, but they fall short in a powered cube due to the speed of the format. Sphinx's Revelation falls into this category as well, although to a slightly lesser degree. On a side rant, the way the name Rakdos is made possessive drives me to madness!
I want to see Dakkon Blackblade (the OG Esper thug) tearing it up on Amonkhet. Go ahead and make him a tribrid character, too, Wizards!
Not the biggest fan of it outside of EDH where games get a bit silly, but if you have the mana you can ruin somebody's day. I'd rather run Blightning because I have emotions tied to that card, and it's much more efficient.
I'd like to see Jaya Ballard, Task Mage get a true PW card in some commander set. Doesn't have to be the commander, just printed. Her normal card is effectively a proto-commander of abilities drawn from cards with her quotes, anyways.
Rakdos's Return is a fun card but very slow in most circumstances outside curving into it turn 3 from a turn 2 Grim Monolith. It's not a great disruptor early game, but it can be a finisher late game. Unfortunately there's way too much competition in Rakdos now and Blightning is much more cost efficient.
I want Baron Sengir to return, but I feel like Sorin Markov took up his mantle for the most part.
Good card in other formats, but Rakdos's Return is just outclassed in the Rakdos sections of cube. Blightning is better and I haven't cubed Blightning in next to forever.
I would like Baron Sengir and Autumn Willow return on decent cards in a decent set. Actually, I liked all the characters of the Homelands setting; it's just most of the cards were weaksauce.
Rakdos's Return seems sweet if you cast it for x=4 on T2 or whatever, but other than that it seems lackluster in this format. I know LSV used to rave about it in Vintage Cube videos, but that seems way off to me.
MTG character with a new card? Hanna, of course.

Quite a few of the Channel Fireball pros seem to pick Rakdos's Return very highly in Vintage Cube videos, which always surprised me since it's never been popular around here. From what I've seen if you're running a lot of fast mana and if you can ramp it out early it's a Mind Twist that also deals some damage, but just as often it seemed to just be a bad Fireball.
Sphinx's Revelation falls into this category as well, although to a slightly lesser degree.
It may be falling out of favor these days, but Sphinx's Rev is still doing some great work in my cube's control decks.
I also have a soft spot for the crew of the Weatherlight, so I'd like to see a new version of Mirri, Cat Warrior that's up to speed with 21st century power creep.
