I've tried him out and haven't really been a fan. In mono-red it is kinda sweet but also mana intensive. I've found you need to think of him has a 4 drop to really do well with him, and in that case I'd rather have Hellrider or Koth.
My favorite new MTG mechanic is definitely prowess. It plays really cleanly and works well in my favorite color combo, Blue/Red.
Abbot is a good man. He's not a guy I run out on turn 2 without acceleration but he's a really sold turn 3 or 4 play.
I like some of the new mechanics, but my favorite might still be first strike (and its cousin double strike). Just the way they change combat math is really cool.
I'm a big fan of Abbot, too. Even though it's a 2-drop that you prefer to play a bit later if possible, running it out on turn 2 isn't a bad play at all if it's the only one you have in hand on T2 since it will be attacking for 3 often enough in the first few turns if you're burning blockers or casting equipment.
I was a really big fan of the Investigate mechanic in SOI, it was a really well designed way to bring a bit more card advantage into multiple formats, and I hope they bring it back in the future or come up with something else that's similar. I was really disappointed to not see any Investigate cards printed in Eldritch Moon.

Way too spooky with all the ghosties in the art. I am pretty sure the other version even has a skellington in it!
I love the card, it does a lot of unfair things for a fair cost. One of those cards that people hate when they first see and then love when they finally understand its value.
I would like to be either have my ashes shot into space to make space dust or be buried in one of those grave forests where they grow a tree with your remains.
There are just some decks that have a huge number of insane 3-5cc cards that Tomb can power out early, and in those situations, Tomb can be an insane card. It can give midrange an extra speed boost against control, potentially sneaking a 4-drop in underneath counter mana. It can be a big-game card in those scenarios.
After I donate all my organs and anything else that might be helpful to this world, I hope to be cremated so I don't take up a bunch of valuable real estate once I'm dead.
I love Ancient Tomb, definitely my favorite land in Legacy / Vintage. If you haven't been following Eternal Weekend, 5 out of the Top 8 decks in the Vintage World Championships are rocking Ancient Tomb in some sort of Eldrazi and / or Workshop deck.
Ancient Tomb is still sweet in cube, too. Doesn't exactly power turn 1 Chalice of the Void / Trinisphere, but colorless ramp that costs zero mana is strong in many decks.
I don't believe that a dead person should horde valuable real estate and I don't want to create a place where people go to be sad about me. I want to be cremated and have my ashes spread across a beach or something.
I love Ancient Tomb. It's risky, but in unpowered cube especially, you should have to risky if you want to accelerate this much. I love it in the artifact deck. T1 Mind Stone into T2 Daretti seems good.
I want a sky funeral, wherein my body is put on a platform and the birds come and peck me apart. More realistically, I want my ashes spread by my favorite maple tree on a family friend's property in Newaygo County, Michigan. That may change.

I don't like Ancient Tomb in an unpowered cube. For me, it falls into the "super fast mana" categorie that I try to avoid in such an environment. Ran it for a while, then cut it.
Where would you like your final resting place to be?
In R'leyh, not dead, but dreaming.
People were really down on that on the MODO Legacy cube. It would often wheel in my drafts, which I think is criminal to be honest. The card is great, especially in unpowered, and goes in almost any deck. I'm a big fan.

As a youth, I traded Ancient Tomb away as quickly as I could find a sucker. A land that dealt two damage to yourself was a tough idea to swallow. Now it is an awesome ramp land.
I want to be buried next to my wife in a small rural town.

Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.
I run Ancient Tomb in my unpowered cube, the drawback of taking 2 every time you use it seems to make it balanced enough to make up for the quick starts it can enable. I like it best in aggressive to fast midrange decks, preferably in red-heavy decks that can close out the game fast.
The version I run is a World Championship edition knockoff of the original Tempest edition. The FTV version with the original art in a modern frame looks really off to me.
When I die, I want my remains to be donated to a medical school so that I can make one final contribution to education on my way out.

Gallows eve looks neat, I don't really like those effects though. I think living end and living death are better though. So I can't see running this unless you want to really push that strategy. Makes me wish we had more Halloween cards though.
Missed Tomb but it is great. I think it's one of those cards that leads people to question it's inclusion based on wcs and bcs, one out of ten it's broken fast mana, one out of ten it deals ten damage to your face as a wastes, but these are super memorable games.
Halloween plans, I have a Cookie Monster costume, my dog has a grouch costume and I'm going to be handing out cookies at my house to children. Did all my Halloween partying this weekend
Living Death loses a lot of its oomph when it's telegraphed this hard. Fun card though, and I've even brewed up some builds in 93/94 that try and use it.
I wish they did more art like this. Love that old/*****ty aesthetic.
No spooky plans, some friends invited me to head into Salem, MA but it's a nightmare getting in/out of there on halloween so it's more likely I'll play some Rocket League or something instead.
I know it's not that great, but I love this card just for the art and the name. Total flavor home run. I'm also a fan of Season of the Witch.
My partner and I carved pumpkins and now we are watching scary movies and handing out candy. I'm also posting spooky song lyrics on my Facebook page.
"I come old friend from hell tonight
Across the rotting sea
Nor the nails of the Cross
Nor the blood of Christ
Can bring you help this eve
The dead have come to
Claim a debt from thee
They stand outside your door
Four score and three
Did you keep a watch for a dead man's wind
Did you see the woman with the comb in her hand
Wailing away on the wall on the strand
As you danced to the Turkish song of the damned
You remember when the ship went down
You left me on the deck
The captain's corpse jumped up
And threw his arms around my neck
For all these years I've had him on my back
This debt cannot be paid with all your jack
And as I sit and talk to you I see your face go white
This shadow hanging over me
Is no trick of the light
The spectre on my back will soon be free
The dead have come to claim
A debt from thee" -- Shane MacGowan

I don't run this card . . . obviously. But it's pretty sweet. I love the old aesthetic.
Nothing spooky happened today. A kid with special needs punched me at lunch today, just like slugged me in the shoulder like you'd do to your teenage brother. I wanted to chew him out, and then I remembered that the last time an authority figure got in his craw about something, the kid bit. This kid is like 16. So I took it and went about my day, but it's just one of those bizarre things that it's hard to believe even happened.

All Hallow's Eve is a flavorful card, but I'd rather run Twilight's Call over it. Telegraphing such an effect for two turns and not having it ready when you need it right now are huge drawbacks. I gladly pay 2 more to avoid those.
Sword of Light and Shadow is either the second or third best entry in the cycle. I remember it getting talked down on a year ago or so, but when I look at the current votes in the colorless power rankings, most people rank it as the third or second best sword. I actually think there are more ranking it above Body and Mind than the other way around. I wonder if people changed their minds or if simply those who like it less haven't posted their rankings yet. Anyway, 3 life is nothing to sneeze at and getting a creature of your choice back can be better than drawing a card if the composition of your graveyard is right. Plus, best set of protections.
I still run the two original swords rather than switching to the full Rahn cycle. There is just some nostalgia value in running the original art there. Running the full Rahn cycle would be cool, too. However, the MM version are rather expensive (especially SoFaI!) and running all five Rahn swords would draw even more attention to the fact that he ****ed up the art on Sword of Body and Mind. I think if I would go full Rahn, I would actually have someone fix the art on that sword, making it the only alter in my whole cube.
I haven't gotten any inventions yet.
I had the "pleasure" of playing against Mana Crypt in a Kaladesh draft though.
Sword of Light and Shadow was one of the first cards I ever owned. I got it as a kid from a kid with a 1$ I had in my pocket, not realising how much it really worth.
The same card stayed in my cube until last year, when replaced it with a judge promo. But the nostalgia memories are carrying me...
The card is awesome just like the whole cycle, and while the random "protection from your deck" may pactor in, it didn't bother us as much as many other playgroaps.
I didn't got any inventions yet, but I watched someone dies from his own Mana Crypt in a draft. This is karma when you have to shoat to the whole world that you got a 150$ card
Sword of Light and Shadow is my 2nd favorite sword. The protections are great against most spot removal (since the toughness boost helps function as a secret "pro red"). It recurs bodies for you, which is big game. It not only keeps you with legs to strap the sword to, but it can also be used as a toolbox card to pull back certain creatures or as a pseudo-"engine" card for abusing ETB creatures. And the lifegain is a good way to win races, beat up on aggro, or pull yourself out of burn range.
I have a Hangarback invention for my cube. I don't like the aesthetics at all, but I like to have at least 1 card of each frame represented in the cube. Even if they look bad like the FTV, Expeditions and Inventions do.
My favorite new MTG mechanic is definitely prowess. It plays really cleanly and works well in my favorite color combo, Blue/Red.
