Mana cost: 1U
Type: Instant
Effect of card: You may return an Island you control to its owner's hand rather than pay Daze's mana cost.
Counter target spell unless its controller pays 1.
So this is a legacy staple and I imagine a strong surprise card in cube, though the surprise comes at a very steep price. Does anyone run this card and how do you guys feel about it?
Free counterspells are great because they're so hard to play around and Daze is no exception even if it isn't as reliable as Force of Will. Mana efficient plays are important enough in cube matches, that there's almost always a good window to get good value from Daze even if setting yourself back a land drop isn't always something you want to be doing. Daze is nowhere near the chopping block in my cube, and I'd foil it out if there was a foil edition available for less than $100.

More often my opponent is paying the steeper price of having their spell countered. It's of course not always active as it is a Force Spike variant, but tapping out and keeping Daze "open" will always be strong.
