I'm thinking about testing this and was wondering if anybody else has had any recent experience with it. Comparing it to other manlands, it seems like it passes the "good enough" litmus test.
Compare to Mishra's Factory / Mutavault...
= 2 power
+ Taps for colored mana as opposed to colorless
- Enters the battlefield tapped
- Activation cost costs one more (but still cheaper than any of the manduals)
Compared to the manduals...
= Both ETB tapped
= Power / Activation cost ratio
+ Cheaper activation cost
- Doesn't tap for two colors
In a nutshell, it has a cheap activation cost, decent power, and doesn't hinder your manabase like a colorless land would. With general removal getting stronger with every set, manlands become a nice option since they all sorcery speed removal + all the spells with the non-land clause (Anguished Unmaking).
This is a 2/1 body with no evasion, meaning it is an aggressive card. But aggressive decks want enters the battlefield tapped lands the least and this card is terrible in their worst matchup (midrange). It offers some mass removal protection, but not enough so to offset the slow down in speed. I'd much rather maindeck Mutavault and Mishra's Factory in aggro shells as they never slow me down, have higher power to activation cost ratio, do not require me to draw another red source to activate (a serious concern in 16 lands lists) and fit many more decks.
Ghitu Encampment suffered for a couple reasons. The power/activation cost ratio is too low for a manland without evasion and red suffers the most from the ETBT clause. The manduals get passes on some of these criteria because of how valuable the mana fixing is.

Honestly, Treetop Village was the first great classic manland, but Ghitu Encampment is my favorite.
