Wow, great card! So easy to abuse and get repeated value out of. Even if you whiff you still get to draw a card. I'm pretty much sold on including a <> subtheme, so this feels like a slam dunk.
Seems like an insane card to me especially in the Collected Company deck. Probably my favorite deck to draft and this card looks like to be a fine addition for it.
As with the other cheap C it really has me nervous about the mana base but I love this thing. Putting a land on the battlefield is great and that will happen a good chuck of the time improving your next draw and ramping, getting another creature is just money though. Can you put this back on to will Volrath's stronghold with the ability on the stack so it would come right back out?

For an unpowered cube, supporting the new colorless theme means that the painlands become higher picks now. I always felt that my playgroup undervalued painlands as untapped duals.
The ability is triggered when he dies so Matter Reshaper will have already changed zones. You will then be able to respond with Volrath's Stronghold which, obviously, will resolve before Reshaper's ability does. If my understanding of the rules is right I see no reason why you couldn't do that. Hilarious.
Cool card, but better for constructed than for cube. The cheaper these cards are, the more you have to strain your manabase to cast them reliably on curve. I'd rather just run C cost cards that cost 4 mana or more, because then I can use a turn 2 manafact to cast such a card on turn 3, with the manafact providing the necessary C. Matter Reshaper however looks like he wants to be cast on turn 3 in a deck without manafacts (mostly meaning an aggressive deck with a low curve). And that will be really hard to make it work.
The cheaper the C cards are, the harder they are to support. Right now, I don't plan on playing any C cards that require colorless-exclusive mana before turns 4-5 at the earliest. If you need C by turn 3 in order to play this on curve, you'll need ~6 sources of colorless in the deck. Whereas cards like Thought-Knot Seer and Reality Smasher can get away with using only like 4-5 sources and be fine. My limited testing with these cards has proven that colorless mana really is at a premium when you're drafting and deckbuilding with C cards, and finding enough sources to reliably curve this out on T3 is probably going to be more difficult than I'd like. Right now, I have this outside of the colorless subsection I want to test out because of its cost.
This is an interesting and fun card, but is it on the level of something like Flesh Carver? And if so, is that the kind of card you're willing to run colorless sources for? Too little lategame application to really shine as a splash, if you ask me.

I think it's more like Solemn Simulacrum than Flesh Carver. You don't get two triggers, but it's cheaper, more power, and your card draw can Coiling Oracle itself into play and instead acts like a free spell.

Have you considered at all running Adarkar Wastes and/or Mystic Gates (et al) in your dual lands sections as a way to support C cards?

Yes. The testing I've been doing has been with a solid effort towards making C as obtainable as possible (within reason). Several additional cards (including allied painlands) have been added as ways to ease the mana requirements.
I think the card is too slow/low impact even if it costed coloured mana.
I'd only want it in a deck like pod or smokestacks, and in those decks the card is good but not top tier or anything.
Possibly fine in a red Agro deck.
In a Grindy format it gets better, but that's not what my cube is :/ I suspect it to be pretty good in a standard eldrazi deck
Without testing, I feel like this card might be house enough on curve to justify the slightly worse alternative of playing it turn 4 or 5. Any sort of library manipulation or recursion makes this even sweeter.
I don't like this guy too much. I would like it if it was a leaves the battlefield trigger, but since it's not, it's too susceptible to the many exiling/boucning effects, plus you can't abuse it with blink shenanigans.

Yes. You can't really support a subsection without doing so.

I might end up adding just the Smasher, but this has a chance.
That seems about right to me too for their ordering.

Of course testing may prove that very wrong.
