Trivia
* Just missed: Banishing Light and Elspeth, Sun's Champion (both 3.2)
* Balance remains as White's #1 card, but with #2 Elspeth, Knight-Errant and #3 Armageddon/Ravages of War way closer this time (their had respectively 18.5, 17.6 and 16.4 points last year).
* Rise and Fall: #12 Council's Judgment and #19 Monastery Mentor are the two newcomers to the list, removing Banishing Light (#18 in 2014) and Elspeth, Sun's Champion (#16 in 2014) from the Top 20. Oblivion Ring (from #11 to #16) and Catastrophe (from #15 to #20) both fell 5 ranks, while Reveillark rose up 5 ranks (from #20 to #15).
* #7 Land Tax had the most variance in votes, with rankings ranging from #1 to #20 (and 3 no-votes), and yet somehow it managed to keep the same position as last year. The card with least variance was #2 Elspeth, being present among the Top 5 on all lists (and also keeping the same ranking from 2014).
* 42 different cards received votes. That number has to mean something.
I definitely rank Council's Judgement lower due to the double white in the mana cost. There are just few enough naturalize and vindicate spells for me not to care that its a sorcery and not an enchantment. I would rather be able to consistently take care of a problem on turn 3 or be able to splash for a powerful removal spell.
The Council can't be undone by Reclamation Sage. That's a big plus in its favor.
I don't doubt that Council is more powerful than O-Ring, but this is about first picking. I rarely want to commit to a colour just for a spot removal spell, that's why I'm surprised by its high rating (side note: I also ranked it among my top 20 nevertheless).
Oh sure. I expressed my opinion on high-picking spot removal in general on the main thread already.
CJ was my #19. It just still won over O-R, my #20.
Splashability is something I value really highly in a first pick as well, 6 of my top 7 only had a single white mana, so I ranked O-ring and Banishing Light higher than Council's Judgment even though CJ is a more powerful removal spell.
On the subject of white removal spells, I'm a bit surprised that people rank O-Ring and Banishing Light so differently that Banishing Light didn't even crack the top 20 while O-ring's at #16. I know it's possible to remove O-ring while the exile trigger's on the stack to exile its target permanently but I considered that such a corner case that I ranked Banishing Light immediately after O-ring. Is there really that much difference in the power level of Oblivion Ring and Banishing Light?

Banishing Light was #21 (tied with Elspeth SC).
Just like with Wrath of God vs Day of Judgment (#9 and #12), most people did rank them close together. The difference in ranking mainly comes from the couple of cases of no-votes for BL/DoJ. Putting O-Ring at #17-#20 or so and excluding BL was more common than putting them at 5+ ranks from each other.
Little bit surprised to see Gideon jura that high, also i am very pleased to see Council's Judgment getting some love.
On the other hand despite i like Stoneforge Mystic a lot i didn't expect to see her as the highest white creature. Monastery Mentor is my favorite white creature now! Not saying is the best, just my fav.
Thank you for this thread willdice!
Any creature that tutors up a batterskull, jitte, or sword for two mana and can also cheat it into play is pretty crazy.

No big surprises this year in White, in my opinion.
I haven't enough opportunities to really play with Mentor. Now that I see how well-loved it is,I want to draft it and see what it can do.
Cheers,
