For some reason I read it as making the opponent discard 2 cards. I was very excited. Now not so much. Why are they always trying to make raise dead a thing. I like planting a shatter plus in the cube so maybe versatility will get it there.
Looks really solid to me, it's a well costed very versatile value spell. More maindeckable artifact hate is always welcome, and instant speed discard is a rarity. It can even support reanimator in a pinch. I think I'm going to try it out in place of Murderous Redcap.

I'm a pretty big fan of this card on first glance. Does a lot of things for not a lot of mana, and will almost always be an actual 2-for-1. Thoughts?
Interesting, this hasn't been revealed as a spoiler yet as far as I'm concerned. All the abilities are existing 1 CMC cards which is certainly not bad. Apart from the situational options, I think the card is slightly worse than Blightning and Blightning is a card I'm not excited about but I keep it in there because it is a great card. This command is good just not great.
I think this card is fantastic. Every combination is situationally awesome, and it's a 3-mana instant 2-for-1 in pretty much every mode. I may include this even in a really small Rakdos section. Neat.

Blightning almost never affects the board (exception is when the opponent has Planeswalkers). This affects the board in two ways pretty reliably. I think that's pretty big difference in this card's favor.
I wish the first mode were a little better than Raise Dead, but overall, I like the versatility of this card. Terminate is a card I've been looking at replacing, and this might give me the push to do it. Definitely worth a look.

Hitting planeswalkers is big at least in my cube. In general, if Blightning read it dealt 3 damage to target opponent, I would cut it easily.
I'd be more than willing to clip 1 less card and reduce that damage by 1 to add the flexibility of killing creatures, raising the dead or shattering my opponent's artifacts to the spell. At instant speed too. And it has a way smaller chance of whiffing as a late game topdeck.
I agree, this card is excellent. For 3 mana, you get 6 different methods of getting an instant speed 2-for-1. What else can you ask for from a 3 mana spell? Smell ya later, Dreadbore.
This card is incredible. When you have a situation where you need to kill something and an artifact, or bring back an important creature and nail one of their important business cards out of their hand, or kill a batterskull and deal the last two points of damage you need to finish off a planeswalker, or remove a sword in-combat and nail another creature for the kill, or counter an opposing animate dead while countering one of their signets, or during their draw step hit them for their hellbent-draw and bring back your own downed-threat...I mean, the scenarios go on because of all the versatility this card offers for 3 mana. At instant speed! This will definitely see eternal/modern play of some sort as well costing 3, at least I think it will be heavily considered. I think it's easily the best Rakdos card you could run at this point.
What in the actual fudge. I just redid my Rakdos section before this was spoilt, a 3 mana instant with these abilities may have just put it to the top of my list?!?! I dont even know anymore. Talk about a toolbox card that pretty much any deck in these colours would want to play, or even splash for. I am going to head over to the This or That discussion to figure out what the hell I do now...
I think we're underestimating the value of Raise Dead, which has an absurdly high ceiling of value when attached to a Command like this. There will be a lot of scenarios where you'll use Shatter + Raise Dead to blow up a sword and then bring back some black / red creature with a ETB trigger that probably blows something else up.
I must have passed on the kool-aid. I don't see what is so amazing about this card. Raise Dead, Shock, Smelt, or....the first mode of funeral charm?
I get that this is another card where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, but I'm still not seeing it. Obviously in powered cubes (and cubes with swords) the value of artifact destruction goes up immensely, but even so none of these pairings excite me.
In Rakdos, I generally want something that is either extremely aggressive or disruptive. Maybe when I sleep on it I'll like this more....
This is extremely disruptive... It can remove two of your opponents permanents or a permanent and a card from his hand for the price of 3 mana. And that's ONLY part of what the card can do.
Think of heroes downfall which is good because it kills so many things. This costs the same amount , answers 2 cards instead of 1 and is almost as versatile!!!
This and zurgo best cards spoiled so far by a mile imo.
I'd be extremely surprised if it wasn't a staple 1 or 2 of in modern Jund decks going forward on raw power level alone...
I think this is a snap include. The flexibility is huge and there's a lot of creatures you can kill. I can foresee the most used mode is Shock, discard, Or Shock, Raise Dead.

It's the fact that it's "and" instead of "or" that makes this so good. Card advantage wins games, and efficient artifact destruction that is never dead in the main deck is something we can never get enough of. This is plenty disruptive and can be aggressive as well.
There's an interesting game theory on counting card advantage. If you manage enough 2-for-1s against your opponents, you're very likely to win games. This card will substantiate any strategy seeking to count based on absolute card advantage. As are all the commands.
Oh, I like this one a lot. The burn and artifact destruction are the most relevant modes here, and instant speed discard is a great add on with no better targets (or when you're into topdeck mode). Lastly, Raise Dead is not a particularly desirable effect on its own, but as part of the package, it's going to prove really useful to recover an aggro one drop or a Bob or something as well as deal with a problem permanent in the meantime. Cackler and Grenzo aren't going anywhere, but I might just replace Dreadbore with this since it's much more splashy and exciting.
I don't understand the excitement for this card at all. I mean, it seems fine, but I'm at five cards per guild and I don't like this more than anything I'm currently running. It's definitely better than Blightning and if I were still running that card, this would for sure be in. None of the possible combinations excite me. I like the versatility of Dreadbore more than the versatility here. The damage, discard, and Raise Dead modes all feel lackluster to me.

This is a fair point. I would never cube Raise Dead as a spell, but stapled onto a body, or as a mode on a spell like this, and it becomes a legit choice. I was pretty meh on that particular mode at first, but it could be situationally quite strong.
