I think Yasova might be the better card on average if you're limited to just one card for that wedge. But if you have a generic "multicolor" section or if Yasova slots into green, this is a good tri-color card.
Yea, if I'm running full Temur, this is certainly my inclusion; simply going -2 twice gives you a Broodmate Dragon, and + abilities that draw cards are generally fantastic. I've liked Yasova, but it hasn't been the slam dunk that I expected it to be, and I might move it over into mono-green to make room for this.
Reminds me a bit of Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath; a big flying creature that leaves behind a decent Planeswalker. But more cost effective, since it's three colours. I might move Yasova to the green section to make room for it if we decide to run it.
Supposing I wanted one of each shard, what are the other serious contenders? Isn't the issue that some shards lack anything top-end, and thus you end up cramming so-so cards in to even them out?
I just run 5 three-color cards for this reason. That way, I don't have to run bad cards for the two or three combinations that don't have anything powerful yet. It doesn't really matter that not all ten color combinations get a card.
On Sarkhan Unbroken: He is pretty good. A card and a mana on the plus ability? Very nice. Now I have to decide if I want a Temur card that helps ramping the big guns out or a big gun that needs to be ramped out.

I really don't think Hybrid cards should be competing for a wedge slot. Yasova doesn't reward you or incentize you to play Temur, and it's almost always just going to end up in a Gruul or Simic deck. This card, on the other hand, clearly does incentize you. The shard cards should be a reward for playing three colors, and you shouldn't be losing the picks to U/B control guy who is going to play Tasigur, or mono black aggro whos playing Hordechief.
And its awesome. I think this is the guy if you're running a Temur deck. I've never been too impressed with Maelstrom Wanderer as his cascade fizzles a lot because of the ramp you need to run him.
This card likely just made me rethink that tri color section again. I don't particularly want to cut Yasova Dragonclaw just yet, so I may make a move toward slotting all of those tribrid cards into their respective mono color sections. I don't know yet. I do know that I want to run this planeswalker. He protects himself with 4/4 beat sticks and he draws you cards. The ultimate is pretty meh, but there's a couple dragons left in the cube (maybe more after this set) so it might have some random interactions.

Definitely similar, but more flexiblity in that sarkhan has two very strong modes.
Ob nixilis generates 2 5/5's and a tiny life swing over 3 turns, Sarkhan draws a card and generates 2 4/4's.
Id favour that to sarkhan.
If you have are ahead, you can choose to sit back and draw cards to prevent over-extension. You may be desperate for an answer to a creeping tar-pit or a TNN and need to find the card you want.
You could have a super busted 7 drop and need the mana to cast it...
They could have burn/removal in their hand and you want to get sarkhan out of burn range while generating value etc.
They have a ratchet bomb in their deck and their life total is high.
Most of the time you want to churn out dragons, but when you don't, that other mode is a very nice alternative.
The comparison to ob-nixilis is a great one tho.. I see him as a better ob nixlis, which is quite strong.
I think this card is going to make my cube a 461 unpowered list. I have a misc multicolor section but I really like all the cards in it. I have no problem sleeving up an extra card to put this guy to work. Very cool card.
Waaaa, Wizards is pumping out too many good cards to fast. I haven't even had the chance to test Yasova yet. Yasova may be better for us, simply because she goes in more decks, but I would actually like to run both (just like Warden and Rhino).
I feel like you can't run this without running Ob nixilis of the black oath. Ob seems about as good as Sarkhan, but I was never really tempted to try him out in my cube. I know one is B and one is temur, but it really seems like a three color card should be alot better than a mono black card for the same cost.
I'm not playing any of the tribrids in a tricolor slot. They really aren't tricolor when it comes down to it. For temur, I'm playing maelstrom wanderer.
Apparently Sarkhan the Sane is Temur now.
Seems pretty fantastic, even without an ultimate.

I think that's reason enough to slot him into cube, even though I prefer Yasova. I'll move her to mono green, since I'm 100% unwilling to cut her.

I used to write for MTGS, including Cranial Insertion and cube articles. Good on you if you can find those after the upgrade.

This guy looks great, but casting a Wanderer is just so fun.
