So, a couple months later, what's the opinion on Warden?
I've wanted to add him to my Green section. The fact he's Abzan has been holding me back, but I already have Wild Nacatl and Noble Hierarch there, so he wouldn't be the first non-green green card.

People can classify however they want. I have a slush multi section for just this reason. The decks are always green that play these cards but no other color's one drops get clogged up with multicolor.
Oh yeah and he is really good. Buy your foil while they are cheap.
This card has an uncanny ability to never be in the drafted portion of the cube. I will seed him in next time, but I have no doubts based on the good feedback and our own evaluation that it's going to be a good card. There aren't many infinitely scaling one-drops either.

Same, actually, it's weird that I've never seen him in a draft.
He's good. But I'm not a fan of green based agro and he isn't that great outside of it. Totally fine in a midrange deck, but not a high pick by any means.
Think he's a bit overrated based on the previous posts.
He misses a lot of main decks so not too many times to see him. Also, there aren't many drafters in my play group that draft the type of deck he's best in...
Basing part of my evaluation on how well he plays out in abzan agro in standard, he's only a decent card in that deck...
Standard has more removal per deck than cube and tends to have more big green monster wars, so possible cube is a better environment? But im not convinced. Still easy for him to get outclassed, and doesn't present a lightning clock on his own... As part of an "all-in" strategy which is what most agro decks in cube need to do to be effective, the 3 mana invested is significant.
Not overly confident with my appraisal, but he's underperformed my expectation in everything I've payed attention to. I do like his "archetype versatility" as he is among a handful of 1 drops that can be played in both agro decks and midrange decks.
Is this guy good enough to run as the only abzan card? I like him, but i feel like Siege rhino would see more play, as well as this guy being maindecked 1 time out of the last 6 8 man drafts I've had.
I think he is one of the best green 1-drop point. If not, he is so close to be.
Just tested it yesterday in the new MTGO Legacy Cube and he was insanely good. Turn 1, he was always relevant and forcing opponent to answer it quick. Swing life and trade with a lot of stuff turn 1 to 4. Late game he was good as well. Gettin bigger and bigger while having Lifelink and Trample is crazy. In aggro shell, he is certainly good because he hits fast and hard, but even in a midrange-ramp shell like the one I was having yesterday, he is more than valuable! In those type of deck, you are very well positionned to pay multiple times for his ability.
He's like a green IMPROVE version of Figure of Destiny.
I've had a chance to play this guy and I can say with certainty that I was completely wrong in my original assessment of him. I didn't think he was very good when spoiled, but he's been the polar opposite in testing. This dude is flat out amazing and might even be better than Figure (he would be if the color was more aggro focused).
But I don't think you need to necessarily support green aggro for him to be stellar. In pretty much any deck, dropping something that can grow into a legitimate threat on its own is always useful turn 1. 3/3's on turn two are very hard to deal with in combat and the cost to make him that is very easy due to the hybrid cost. Figure can get bigger more easily, but the cost can sometimes be prohibitive which often keeps him a 2/2 longer than you want.
Late game the lifelink (while very overpriced) can be crucial and swing games. I've not seen his final trigger happen (much like Figure's), and I doubt it will more than once in a blue moon, but it's potentially game winning if and when it does happen.
Anyone not running this, I urge you to give him a try.
I really like this guy, but when I'm just trying to add green aggro to 360 (surprisngly working) I'm just NOT in the mood to add a card that can't be played with white, black, AND red.

I'd play Warden even if I didn't support green aggro, he always makes the cut in any non-combo deck in his color combination.
How has this guy been in reality? I was surprised at how hyped up everyone is in this thread; he seems like a massive mana drain and easy easy easy removal target. This guy will take a while to get going on paper, and many other creatures aren't even considered for such things. 7 multicolor mana for 3/3 trample lifelink? I get that people really value the sort of flexibility, but just seems like a huge resource drain.
You don't go all in on him unless it's the best/only available plan available to you. It's a 1-drop that bashes for 3 on T2, and outside of that, you don't sink mana into it unless it's "extra" mana or a play you know is going to be safe/desirable. If green contributes to the beatdown plan in your cube, it plays like a Figure of Destiny with a more impactful level 2, and that level remains relevant deeper into the game. And since there's no "cap" on the ultimate mode, it becomes a late-game mana sink that's dominating if not removed.

But then where does it slot in? Green section? 5 color special section?

Often it ends up as a great value card for any green-based aggro/midrange deck. It is the best nonland card in that tricolor.
