Card is solid, but not amazing. Vigilance is the wrong keyword for his body with a 1WW casting cost. Meaning, I'd want this guy to cost 2W or have a better ability than vigilance. One of the rare cases where a 2/3 body would've been better than a 3/2 for the same cost. It would've made both of his abilities better. Won't be playing at 360. Borderline at 450. Would play at 540+.
I think this guy seems interesting enough to at least give him a shot at 550. I'll likely throw this in the Silverblade Paladin slot. I don't really like it more than other 3cc options in white, though, even at 550.
Same here. Silverblade Paladin is the only 3-drop on my list I am willing to cut for the Spiritkeeper. Without testing I really don't know how to evaluate this Card, although I feel its stats are underwhelming.
I'd cut Ajani, Caller of the Pride before it too. I like Silverblade Paladin more than 1WW Ajani.
Ya, that seems like a good cut. We could do the same in our cube. Fiend hunter is rather bad with creatures that have a strong ETB trigger, and often it's too much of a risk to attack or block with him, so he sits there like an overcosted and easier to remove Journey to Nowhere.
I feel the same way with all of those creatures, and even worse when you can't play them because you'd rather Path their dude since they'd love to trade their removal spell for your creature dead and their etb effect blinked on something like Grave Titan.
I like this creature more than most. Not going to be staying long in my 360 but it's quite powerful for three mana, even on the defense.
This card's cool, kind of a nightmare for racing because it just presents all of these awful scenarios -- block and trade, they get 1+ tokens. Attack into it, they get tokens. Do nothing and get beat over the head for 3 per turn. I wouldn't cut Silverblade Paladin or Ajani in a million years though, the mono-white combo sub-archetype is important to white's range, but any place you can find room for it appears to be worth it.
I've been looking for a good white 3-drop to replace Mirran Crusader. MC is definitely powerful enough, but I don't like how oppressive it is to Golgari decks. This seems like a good swap for me, since I support token/anthem decks in white pretty heavily.

I was wrong about this creature the first time that I evaluated it. The vigilance is actually a really valuable keyword on this creature specifically because of the death trigger. My opponent might not want to trade the body away in combat with one of their guys if it's going to give me a Spectral Procession when it dies. So they take the 3 damage and ignore the threat. Except they can't just do that, because the Vigilance opens up opportunities to trade the body away for insane value on defense as well. Putting your opponent in a lose/lose situation every time combat is relevant to the game state.
On average it'll play out like a Kitchen Finks of sorts, where you get a 3 power dude up front and another ~2 power if it dies. You trade the lifegain away for vigilance/flying (both of which have already shown to be quite relevant) and trade the hybrid cost away for a higher power-level ceiling if you can pop 3-4 (or more) tokens from it upon dying.
So far, I like it more than either of the two Double-Strike 3-drop white creatures, because it has more offensive and defensive utility, interesting board interactions, and plays well in token/anthem archetypes as well. I have him in my current 450 list, and have been enjoying it.

Interesting. I think I will try him out in place of Mirran Crusader. Thanks for the well articulated analysis!
any recent results with this thing? nobody ever drafts it here, but i'd like to know if it's been an all-start for anyone else. with all the cool new white creatures lately i'm struggling to find cuts.
Yep, great card is still great. Estimated about 5 total power over 3 bodies, evasion post-death, Vigilance, a huge ceiling and archetype contributions. Pretty much all I can ask for from a 3cc creature. But the 3cc section is stacked, and the token deck that wants this already has Brimaz in the exact 1WW cost slot, so I could see people cutting this if the need arises. Great creature tho.
what kinds of decks does it shine in? in this thread i saw stax mentioned. you mention tokens. anyplace else it is spectacular? i feel like i need to try to jam it myself a few times to try to prove it out before letting it go.
It's great in pretty much any white-based aggro deck, but it improves substantially with any anthem or sacrifice effects.
nobody ever drafts it here
I've found that this card and other cards printed only in Commander sets tend to go later in drafts than they should based on power level, and I think it's because people just aren't as familiar with what they do because they haven't seen play in other constructed formats like Standard or Modern. True-Name Nemesis is a pretty big exception because there was a lot of buzz over it for Legacy, but the rest people are generally seeing for the first time ever in cube.

White decks with creatures in them. But for specific shells, token builds and maybe some sort of WB Stax deck? It can also be tutored up by the new white Recruiter, which is cool.
I can't say I'm pleased to see you and must warn you I may have to do something about it.

Agreed with the above, except add Monastery Mentor / Brimaz / Recruiter of the Guard (if you support creature based combos like Twin) / Thalia / both Gideons / Lingering Souls / Heliod (if you support Heliod combos)
