I think this card is fun! It seems very awesome, is a non-embarrassing size for the cost, and looters are always welcome (and has artifact interactions).
Interesting design. It's not uncommon for a drafter to first pick a bomb, but to end up in a different archetype/colours. I can see situations where I'm auctioning something pretty spicy, and might expect a decent card in return.
The creature form is playable, particularly as a colourless graveyard enabler.
It probably warrants testing, though it wouldn't be much good if you aren't regularly running large drafts.

This is the CNS draft card I'm most excited for so far. Also, calling it now. We're getting 2 cycles of constructs that affect drafts, 1 at rare and 1 at common.
The body is playable, and not even like the lower end of playable where its almost bad, a looter for 3 in any color is reasonably good. and as a 2/3 it blocks fairly well.
And since one of the most fun parts of cubing is the draft anyway, auctioning off a card at the end should be fun. I will definitely at least test it if I can pick one up.

Rest in RIP My Signature, I guess. 2015-2016, we hardly knew ye.
Total side note but I like how people are discussing running this over itself.
Well, it has to be said that Kolaghan is clearly better than Kolaghan. Considering what BR decks usually want and how stiff the competition in this guild is, there is no way that I would run Kolaghan over Kolaghan! Kolaghan might make it in as the sixth guild card or so. Kolaghan on the other hand ranks several places below that.
It was so funny to me when they described this as a downgrade to the original Zurgo during the Pax East panel. I was thinking if this is a downgrade, they should really "downgrade" all legendary creatures. Haha.
My deck designing is quite concise at this point:
1. Come up with deck idea
2. Realize this idea is somehow fundamentally similar to another deck I have or that is commonly played in my group
3. Decide I don't want to disassemble one of my existing decks
4. Give up and do nothing
I don't see the point of this new shroud mechanic. It's strictly worse than Hexproof. Threshold is pretty bad too, Delirium is a much better mechanic and probably easier to activate.
Otherwise this card is a pretty neat guy. Dodges removal and grows into a Primal Huntbeast. 3/5
This is the first conspiracy card that gets em excited for the set.
This is very playable in lots of decks. If we consider 2 mana 1/1s to be fine I don't see how this isn't. I could replace the cost with 2R and I'd want to try it as the best red looter ever.
And after you draft his it can encourage to snipe a combo piece or off color removal. Basically it will create drafting dynamism (as long as you are over 2 players) and it isn't a blank in decks either.
I like it. The trading thing is fun and it's perfectly playable in any control deck and has extra value for reanimator. 2/3 for 3 is a really good body for a looter.
I like it a lot. It's a good looter that fills a problematic spot on the curve for many decks even without the draft-altering ability, which should make for a very fun strategic decision for everyone at the table (Do you hatedraft higher if you have one in the cube? Do you offer up something dangerous? Are you willing to reveal anything about your deck?).
I assume that people would offer up the best card that they're not planning on making it into their final 40 (an off-color bomb or some such) instead of something important for their deck. I always wind up with at least a few cards in my pool that are heavy-hitters and other folks would trade for.
This is probably the most pushed 3 mana looter printed and also one of the most pushed 3 mana artifact creatures for base stats as well. Add to that the fact that its a colorless looter that can have crazy fun effects on the draft and I don't see why you wouldn't at least test this card.
As I said in the other thread, this one is the most likely to be maindecked (besides the 9+/9+ perharps), and has a very fun draft effect. The best of the group so far.
This is actually decent without draft shenanigans. And the extra effect is certainly fun and interesting even in 1v1, if players are happy to both strengthen their decks. Having a strong universal looter is going to be of use for many decks and hopefully this is a precedent for better red looters - Rummaging Goblin is utterly put to shame by this card!
Yea, this guy compares really well to Merfolk Looter and company. +1/+2 and for one additional mana and no color restrictions! This card will play well in any control deck (3 toughness!). The cool draft implications are just icing. I'm definitely going to be testing him out, along with the 7 mana one.
Yes. A cool draft card that is also completely playable and helps reanimator strategies. I think this is the best of the cycle of constructs and I am already excited to try out the draft altering mechanics to see how they play, but this one is actually good even without the draft part.
Actually, a colourless looter is just what my cube wanted, although I didn't know it until now. Good with Goblin Welder, Reanimate, Loams and the like, and being colourless is such a boon for universally useful cards. The more I think about this card, the more I realise how much I've needed that effect for a while.
As I mentioned hopefully this will kick WotC into giving red the looter it deserves. Backwards looting (discard as a cost-->draw) should cost less, although WotC seems value it higher for God knows why. I don't see why a 2/1 backwards looter for 2 wouldn't be printable.
I really like this card! Seems like the best of the constructs spoiled so far.
- Colorless Looter means non-blue reanimator decks got another toy!
- Looting + body that stops/kills small attackers makes it a decent utility guy for control decks.
- Unlike most other Conspiracy constructs, this one doesn't interrupt the draft itself.
- The "trade a card after the draft" ability is something that players have been wanting to do for years.
- There aren't that many cubable artifact creatures for 3 mana yet.
We drafted with it for the first time this weekend. It was a big success. It ended up in a Reanimator deck, but the best part was the auction part. The Reanimator-player offered a Mox Pearl and got the choice between a on-colour Mox Jet and Library of Alexandria! He choose the Library and promptly won a match with it against hard control.
We never forsaw this high level trading. We thought it would be used to get rid of off colour bombs or hate drafted cards. Note that this was a Rochester draft, which changes the dynamics of the trade a bit.

Even when you don't, I don't remember the last time I played a cube draft and didn't have at least one pack where nothing really fit with my strategy at all, yet there were multiple other important pieces of other decks. You'll obviously get something insane if you've got like a Show and Tell, Blightsteel Colossus, Storm card or something else to give to the person who was praying for the card.
