When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
Maybe I'm just not seeing it, but I wouldn't cube this guy even without the human restriction.
It would never make a 360. Maybe a 720 if there were a lot more good humans. I like build around me cards that have cool interactions. This is just lacking right now.

Agreed. He turns your other creatures into +1/+1 counters. That's upside against removal, but only if you have 1G open. It's only profitable if you're sacrificing 1/1s. Or utility guys during combat. None of that is worth 1G.
One of my buddies runs a human sub theme I think I'm going to buy him one of these and make him try it. Humans are super sweet. So many incidental bonuses, and the weird phasing considerations on champions of the parish are totally fun. Reminds me of playing with evolve in limited.
Xathrid is super cool and so is Ranger of Eos.
Anyone else wish damage still went on the stack? Wasn't that just like a way more fun game?
I run him in my Modal Cube. In that power level, he's great. I do run a fair number of humans, but he often reads "Sac Deranged Outcast," not "Sac a Human." Still, he complicates the board in a good way. I don't think a human theme is necessary for him, but it's a welcome addition.
With that said, he's nowhere near the power level for a normal cube. If you're trying to build a low power, but not C/U cube, he's fun.
Man, can you imagine how good he would be if it read "sacrifice a creature"?
Eh, I think it would still be mediocre with the mana cost. Unless yo umeant it just read "sac a creature, put two +1/+1 counters" with no mana cost. In which case it would probably be an auto-include at any size I would guess. Maybe not powered 360.

If it were any creature, or more mana elves were humans it would be great. A big problem with cube modern ideas about green is that it draws a lot of lands, and by lands I mean things that suck when you have enough mana sources. It also ends up with an awful lot of crappy doorknobs in play sitting around.
A guy that turns your doorknobs into big guys by eating late mana sources sounds great!
Man imagine this guy? Would you guys like it then or would it still be too bad compared to lotus cobra and snapcaster and balance?

I just love designing cards, and I was kinda being sassy at first but then I decided that it wasn't as much fun to be sassy and talking about sweet abilities for green decks and attacking creature decks was more fun.
I really think I could convince my buddy to cube this guy, but he also plays necromancer, ranger of eos and 4x champion.

How does this card fare for larger cubes?

I still play 6th edition rules in my cube, because I do think damage on the stack was better.

And yea! This card isn't a grim monolith, but how much fun is grim monolith really?

That's what I'm having trouble with. It honestly doesn't sound that great.
