While probably not making the cut in smaller lists, giving Utopia Tree hexproof and an additional toughness really pushes me towards including it (not to mention it helps with the tiny synergy with Overgrown Battlement in my cube).
I kinda like that guy. Certainly better than Utopia Tree most of the time. Mana dorks with hexproof are good against the burn decks that usually prevent them from functioning. Plus, it blocks for a turn or in a pinch better than other mana dorks do. Interesting card.
If that's real it's a pretty strong contender. It actually blocks small beaters effectively, which is really helpful for slower ramp decks. And hexproof is huge for this kind of effect. I really like it.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
Wouldn't you simply run Vine Trellis over this one if you wanted a burn proof mana dork?
/4 sounds slightly better than /3 Hexproof (not that I'd run any of these).
Vine trellis dies to a lot more removal and doesn't fix mana, so that's a no for me.

Bingo. I wanna see this confirmed. Lots of nice perks in 1 package.
A big question mark is whether smaller cubes trade this thing for wall of roots. Hexproof and tapping to make any color are a big deal. Wall of Roots is naturally bigger but shrinks and can be destroyed via spells.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
If it's as reported, I would cube this in a heartbeat!
I've been cubing like 3x a day the past month and getting a lot of insight into green.
If Im drafting non-mega ramp green, I am almost always wanting to play G/X/y decks.
Splashing a third color for cards that complement the weakness of the other two colors (or splashing blue for power).
Cards like swords to plowshares, time walk, oblivion ring, thoughtseize.
Having great 3 color manafixing without slowing down your tempo (IE grand colosieum) is a huge gain for those types of decks.
So a reliable early ramp spell, a fixer , that also brick walls agro? Snap include.
Edit: I think there's a decent chance the card will not be as rumored. Seems a bit too good compared to recent mana ramping/fixing trends.

Wall of roots can produce mana twice and block all in the same turn cycle. I think it's the better card.

I think the set is epic so far even though I don't have a certain include yet. In the future fewer and fewer sets will contribute anything to cubes so we should get used to that.
That said, I'm quite a big fan of this Utopia Tree upgrade. The third toughness is very significant in terms of blocking aggro stuff, and it can ramp me in any colour. It's pretty awesome. How it compares directly to Wall of Roots isn't clear at this point, and they seem to do slightly different jobs anyhow.
Definetely testing this. Helps against aggro decks and almost immune to removal. Also I have a soft spot for walls:embarrass:, which sadly isn't strong enough to get mediocre walls into our cube.
Now, the question will be what to take out. Maybe Sakura Tribe Elder? The Snake always does its thing, but this wall looks like it creature stats are more relevant.
I will definitely be Cubing this. Not sure what to cut, but I'd like to play this in addition to Wall of Roots. For those debating the 2 slots though, I do think this is better because of #1 the fixing and #2 the hexproof makes it more reliable at whatever you need it to do in the early game.
I think Wall of Roots is better for several reasons (it can ramp and block at the same time, it can make mana on both my turn and their turn, and it can block bigger creatures if topdecked later on) but I intend on playing both.
I don't run Wall of Roots (anymore), and so I doubt I'll run this guy too. I probably should try to get Wall of Blossoms back in my cube, way before this guy.
I love this guy. I cubed with utopia tree up until elvish mystic came out. My group loved "A second birds of paradise" No it was not as fast but ramp fixing is great. I just compare this to a signet and it is a super win. No it can't hold a sword on offense but hexproof and 3 toughness make this a winner for sure.
Tapping for any color and keeping that up against a variety of removal can be huge for some decks. I've had draws crippled by a killed Birds of Paradise before, so helping to ensure smooth fixing is pretty nice. This card is sweet.
