That was my suggestion in the other thread. I suppose Nature's Lore and Edge of Autumn should be added as well.
Here's my criteria for inclusion on the budget list:
All of the cards on this list are cards that I've either seen in multiple MTGS users' lists, the latest Power Rankings (but only the top 5 of each guild, and the #1 card from each tri-color category), or the Cubetutor 360 average cube list (http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcube/492), and they all have at least one tournament legal edition available that costs less than $2 USD based on current TCG Mid pricing at the time of this writing. In fact, the overwhelming majority cost less than $1, and at least half are less than $.50.
They're certainly under $2, but they don't meet any of the other criteria for me to consider them to be cube staples or near-staples. They haven't made the Power Rankings, they haven't even made CTA 720 much less 360, and even though quite a few people in this thread have said they like Edge of Autumn, the only regular user in this forum I'm aware of that's running either of those cards is Metamind. His cube seems to be a bit of an outlier, though, he's running a 720 card cube that's very deep on green ramp with a whopping 7 2CMC ramp sorceries plus Fertile Ground. That doesn't mean that they're not good cards, especially if you're building a cube that you want to be really deep on ramp, but I'm trying to keep this list to cards that are not only cheap, but that anyone who's building a new cube will likely want to keep in their cube for a long time so that they're also getting good value. There seems to be a limit to how many ramp sorceries most cube designers want in their cube, so I'm only recommending the ones that have proven most popular.
I'm happy to get your suggestions, though, and I'm very glad to add Rampant Growth and Farseek, as well as trying out Search for Tomorrow in my own cube!
