When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
they fix mana, but playing my creatures a turn late because my land enters tapped isn't any better than playing them late because my mana isn't right.
This is why we don't play Shivan Oasis. Being an un-counterable, un-wrathable threat that does not take up a spell slot makes it better enough that I actually like to play them in aggro decks. I find that I often can drop the land where it does not hurt me too much that it enters tapped, but other times that is quite bad of course.
I'm confused. Everyone is saying that manlands are crazy good, especially compared to the Scars duals that help out aggro so much, yet at the same time saying Stirring Wildwood is worse than Horizon Canopy, which is a dual that helps out aggro.

Can someone help out a confused fellow cuber?
having a land ETB untapped, that taps for 2 colors, that also replaces itself for flood protection and more gas is far better than a 3/4 with reach, even if it's a land.

Canopy isn't limited to being good in aggro; it's better in everything. It's a dual land that draws cards. End of story.
So I want to get some mileage out of more fun-but-not-ultra-powerful cards.
Can "legends" be a decent cube theme? I suppose there isn't that many actually playable cards that work with them.
Specialities about the cube: U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.

I'm not trying to be obtuse here, but simply saying "end of story" isn't really conducive to discussion, nor does it actually make it the end of the story.
In any event, I agree that Horizon Canopy is the bee's knees, but why is it better in everything? Just because it can go in monocolored decks? That's a huge advantage, obviously, but isn't that advantage mitigated by the fact that a manland on the board is almost always better than the expected value of a single card drawn? Especially given your eloquent (and frequently expressed) appreciation for manlands, in this thread and in many others?
I'm aware that there are some cute interactions with graveyard recursion that work well with Horizon Canopy, but Loam/Crucible effects aren't exactly common, especially with my black section encouraging the Pox deck and adding another archetype hungry to snap up those effects. Which means that very often you're not going to recur Horizon Canopy, bringing me back to whether or not the EV of a single unknown card is worth more than a wrath-proof creature.
Well, I think it comes down to how you value the on-board cycling. We've had reasonable success with Tranquil Thicket because you can cycle it away if you don't need the land, but Horizon Canopy is so much better: it fixes your mana, does not enter the battlefield tapped, can be cycled for the same cost and you can even cycle it after getting several turns of mana first.
A manland like Stirring Wildwood is good in most GW decks. A land like Horizon Canopy is great in GW, W and G decks and still playable in decks without G or W. So I like Canopy better because it goes in more decks. Now for a GW deck that can play both lands, Stirring Wildwood you want to have if it helps you push through the damage for the win or stabilize the board so you don't loose. If Wildwood can't do that for you, you'd rather draw a card with Canopy that can.
I'd keep the Persecutor if you're pushing Pox; it gives you more sac outlets.
It's close between the Goblin and the Charge. The Goblin if you need more bread for your aggro decks, and Charge if you need more butter. I'd lean towards the Goblin myself, as having that mass of 2-power 1-drops is more important than having good support cards.
I'd play Dreadbore for sure, and then I'd probably play Blightning just to diversify the effects.
I'd find a way to get Dual Lands into the cube. If this is the best/cheapest avenue to do so, I'd go for it. But isn't 370 Euros ($475) expensive for the CE duals? I haven't checked prices in a while, so I don't know for sure.
I love arena, but Consuming Vapors is bonkers. I'd play both at 360, but I think Consuming Vapors is a stone cold staple while Arena is straddling the line.
I would have thought Arena is an autoinclude. Maybe I overvalue it's power, but I like it more than most black card draw, except maybe Bob. Looking at your list, I see you run Necropotence too, so maybe arena is the cut. I'd consider Dance of the Dead, mostly because paying the upkeep and it enters the battlefield tapped.
Arena is a lot more powerfull. Removal aplenty, but drawing two cards each turn is boss. Not that Consuming Vapors is not good enough, but Arena is a staple now and will remain a staple for years.
You just need to make sure that Black based control decks have enough (mass) removal to be playable.

Choose 1: Goblin Patrol or Reckless Charge (500 card cube with 8 other red one drops - one of them being Gargadon)
Choose 2: Blightning, Terminate and Dreadbore
Choose 1: Krosan Tusker or Avenger of Zendikar (Prime Time, Hornet Queen, Woodfall Primus and Craterhoof Behemoth are other green 6+ drops. Terastadon is also there but will be cut for something much cheaper soon)

Also, Hussar Patrol is absurd in a pauper cube.
