Sokenzan, Origin of the Resistance
Legendary Land
T: Add R.
Channel - 3R, Discard Sokenzan, Origin of the Resistance: Create two 1/1 colorless Spirit creature tokens. They gain haste until end of turn. This costs 1 less for each legendary creature you control.
- Visera Seer is the traditional choice for this slot, but I've ran into too many loops that don't win on the spot
- Blasting Station felt too narrow
- Sadistic Hypnotist / Phrexian Plaguelord/ Spawning Pit/ Nantuko Husk feel like decent cards in sacrifice/ Melira decks that can go off and generate an overwhelming advantage (not win loop) but also cards that play well fair.
I'm leaning more towards Sadistic Hypnotist/ Phyrexian Plaguelord as they performed fairly well in EDH but if you had to pick 1 or 2, which would you pick?

Never seemed to have as much luck with Collective Brutality in our playgroup as the rest of you all seemed to. In looking for a discard card to cut for Fugue, that's the only one that seems possible for us. Opinions?
Dread Fugue or Collective Brutality?

Collective Brutality if you support reanimator since it's a discard outlet that can snipe removal / counterspells, Dread Fugue otherwise.

I'm still planning on running Treachery if that impacts the Sower pick. Also the cube only actively supports enemy colour pairs so Blue pairs with red and green for the most part.
In a cube with so few slots, I think I would opt for versatility. So Inquisition would be my pick over the Hymn as the mana prohibits Hymn from fitting in many decks.
I think Urza is a cool build around that can function by itself (2 bodies, a little ramp, mana sink).
Then I would pick either Venser or Glen as staple Blue cards that will play well in all decks. I lean towards Venser as I love flash and the board impact it can provide, but you can't really go wrong.
Thanks, you're inclination matches mine. I love Venser and I've often found GEA doesn't perform as well in 2-player cube as the opponent is often in a more creature focussed build if you've been taking blue controlling cards. Though there's still plenty of targets in theory.
Landfall vs another dead creature may break even in the long run but the 5 mana version of the shade looks better than the 2nd point of toughness on the scrounger.
I like Skyclave Shade over Scrapheap for the 5 mana option. I think being able to fit 2 spots in the curve is worth being a little harder to recur and being a little worse in the 2 mana mode.
How's everyone feeling about Swords of X and Y these days? I still run the original 5 (I'm a sucker for cycles), but they are showing their age a bit more. In our cube (which skews more multiplayer fwiw), I have them ranked as follows even though I don't currently run the GW, RB or UW swords.
RU > GB > UG > GW > RB > WR > WB > UW
Also, Protection from Color is also one of my least-favorite mechanics in the cube which gives me a little angst. With some of the new equipment we've seen in the last few sets (Heriloom Blade, Sword of the Realms, Bonesplitter 2.0, Blade of the Oni), I could see slaughtering a few sacred cows and cutting most of the swords in favor of more interesting equipment.
I've re-configured my equipment package for NEO since that had 3 really good ones, plus I want to lean into Urza's Saga more, which is quite powerful in aggro decks. Sword of Fire and Ice and Sword of Body and Mind have always been the two top performers for me sword wise. Feast and Famine is a distant third, and after that it drops off quite a lot.
My ranking:
Fire & Ice
Light & Shadow
Body & Mind
Sinew & Steel
Feast & Famine
At 465 cards, I'm running the top 4. With the advent of Lion Sash, Eater of Virtue, and Blade of the Oni, I'm likely cutting Sinew and Steel. They are slow these days and usually not for an aggro deck. I still love them despite that because I just think the design is cool.

I agree with this ranking, though I think Light/Shadow, Body/Mind and Sinew/Steel are all quite close. But I am only running the top one since quite a while ago - two might be the right number, but they tend to be quite slow for aggro these days.
My reanimator deck has under performed for 3 drafts in a row and I feel I would need +1 reanimation spell that can work with Eldrazi Titans as the Oko, Teferi, white unconditional removal has become problematic in recent days.

2 - A cut for new Eater of Virtue: Heirloom Blade vs Bonesplitter vs Shadowspear ? What order ?
I'd cut Heirloom Blade over Bonesplitter / Shadowspear, especially if you support Urza's Saga.
