I cut Innocent Blood and Diabolic Edict, and kept Chainer's Edict. It's really unfortunate that it's sorcery speed, because you can super often miss your chance to hit hard. BUT The card advantage built in is very nice, enough to persuade me based on playtesting. Also I have a pimp version that I wanted to use. But they are all quite good. Do you support stax? If you do, play Smallpox before any of these. Even without much support, you can play around the downsides kind of like Balance and make it super powerful.
Exhume scares me, I don't want to get goozled. Dance seems great, especially the "any" clause making it straight playable outside of reanimator. Unburial Rites is good and can be Entombed, but it's just so expensive.

How often does your opponent get something good out of an exhume? or something even pretty good, like a decent 4-drop? I understand the lack of a tacked-on enchantment is also great, but dance provides additional utility without risking free value for the opponent.
Both Exhume and Dance are kind of inversely related: Exhume becomes is the best reanimation spell early game since it essentially has no drawback, but it becomes riskier as the game goes on. Dance of the Dead sets back your tempo, which can be crushing early game, but the drawback isn't as bad early game and your opponent might have something more useful to steal later on.
Unburial Rites always feels "fair" and I feel like I have to be in Esper to get the most of it since it's at its best when paired with Gifts Ungiven / Intuition.
Thanks for the input! That led me to another line of thought: I think I might try out Dance of the Dead first, primarily because I already run Living Death. I don't want two different cards that rely on playing around and setting up for maximum benefit (although obviously they would work well in a deck together if you are playing the exact same way.) I can see Exhume being better in the long run.
If you have a chance to look at my list and tell me if I do support the "fast" reanimator deck, I'd super appreciate it! Otherwise, I think I'm gonna run with Dance and playtest the heck out of it.
I see all the tools for fast reanimator. I think Exhume would be quite good in your list, even though you don't have very many big monsters to get back from the graveyard (you don't want too many, so maybe the number is exactly right).
Awesome! I'm totally fine with playtesting both, but I think I'll start with Dance of the Dead and experience the downside, see how bad it really is vs. the benefits.
I like the idea of an aristocrats-style deck being available, but I'm not sure that gaining life is the effect I want. Maybe efficient, clean removal is better.

Brainstorm, Ponder, Preordain, Serum Visions, Ancestral Visions, Deep Analysis, Thirst for Knowledge, Fact or Fiction, Treasure Cruise, Dig Through Time.
I understand that these all serve different functions, but feel like I have one too many and am looking for justification to cut Ancestral Visions and trade it to modern players for lots of other cards.

I really like Treasure Cruise a lot, but I agree that Thirst for Knowledge and Ancestral Visions are cuttable. I'd probably cut Serum Visions before Ancestral Visions, though.

465 card Unpowered cube thread. Draft it here and I'll be happy to return the favor.
450 card Peasant cube thread. Draft it here.
I run thirst for knowledge at 360 to support the artifact deck a little bit more.
If you are supporting it, I think you should give it a try, if not then cut it.
my cube is unpowered, but last night it played really nicely.
I only drew it once but went
Turn one, Land -> mox diamond - Thalia, guardian of thraben (which made my opponent miss his turn 1 thoughtseize hahahaha.
Turn two land, swing, passed turn, draw three during opponents end step.
as for the other cards, I run
Ponder
Preordain
Brainstorm
Fact or Fiction
Dig Through Time
I cut Serum Visions recently for Ponder
As for Ancestral Visions, Treasure Cruise, and Deep Analysis,
I would probably play Ancestral Visions > Deep Analysis > Treasure cruise myself

I only want to run one of them. So what do you think is best? Cheap cost, instant or flashback?

Exhume > Dance of the Dead >>>> Unburial Rites IF you want to support the fast reanimator deck. If not, you probably don't want Exhume at all.

I play both so tough call to make. Anguished unmaking always makes the cut where Ayli will sit in quite a few sideboards.
