I would love it if Hill Giant allowed me to pay one mana to blow up a artifact/enchantment and then put a +1/+1 counter on it. But wait ...then it wouldn't be a Hill Giant anymore. It would be something better instead.
I think Master of the Wild Hunt has the most upside, of those on the list (unless I'm playing mono or heavy black) this card scares me the most when it's in my opponent's battlefield.
But it also reminds me of a "big Wolves" deck that was drafted not too long ago from my Cube...had Mayor of Avabrook, Garruk Relentless, Huntmaster of the Fells and Master of the Wild Hunt in the same deck. That was fun to watch, and a lot of wolf tokens!.

Also, the Wolfir Bros. (Avenger & Silverheart) are both wolves.
I'd rather not play a Hill Giant...that's terrible.
If it helps me win, I'm all for a Hill Giant! That said, the card creates options which something like Indrik don't and that adds value to it. I like flexible answer cards like Aftershock or Beast Within and the Elder has that vibe.
Ok this digs out an old thread but what have people's expierience been with Fangren Firstborn? I just opened one out of a booster tutor and he kicked a little ass. By the way booster tutor is a hilarious way to try out new cards in cube and potentially have multiples of cards out at once.
Also do people still have such a high opinion of Yeva? She did nothing for us, compared with thinkgs like Thrun and even the Collosus who is a nightmare in ramp decks.
I cut Yeva, but I'm looking forward to a time when she'll come back. The real problem I've run into is that my G/x tempo decks that want to play creatures with flash have a glut of great 4 drops.
Fangren Firstborn can't make the cut, he's nowhere near versatile and/or good enough.
I agree that it probably doesn't make the cut, but I think the effect (green anthem) is a lot more desirable now than it was a few years ago. Green tokens is a thing: Awakening Zone, the Garruks, Master of the Wild Hunt, Huntmaster of the Fells. I've been impressed with Artifact Mutation since I decided to give it a whirl, too.

I think I will keep him in my maybe box. I have way too many good 4 drops in green but I think it is a matter of trying to find the ones that are the best in the green decks they may end up in versus in a vaccuum. Incendentially he landed with my lightning mauler out. then returned with unburial rites followed by life. But very fragile.
I would like to try artifact mutation but I hate to give over a slot in gold to a norrower card. We have people in our group who like to pull the 0 artifact/enchanments in the main to blank those types of cards.
I used to have Fangren Firstborn in my cube ages ago when I was pushing a +1/+1 counter theme. It was ok but would tend to die on its first attack (if not before) and the triple green in the casting cost was rough. If it was a 3/3 for 2GG I'd be tempted to give it a try. The way creatures are these days you could probably add in haste and make it a 2RG.

At 360 green 4cc is quite full, but maybe others will love em.
They do quite different things. Fangren boosts all attackers a smidge and the Raiders gets huge assuming you have a team assembled for the attack. I'd love to love Fangren, but he's just a bit too awkward to not pass the Terminate test.

I tested her out a while ago. The effect is nice, but something about her is off. It's pretty sad I'm *****ing about a 4/4 for 4 that gives your green dudes flash.
I love unique effects. Both Yeva and Huntmaster do unique things. I think Yeva needs a higher pool/cube size to see inclusion. She's too "meh" for more refined lists. I also think her support role doesn't mesh with the way I've built up green.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
I also think her support role doesn't mesh with the way I've built up green.
Exactly. MaRo says Flash is primary in green, so I'm hoping for some more support for Green in the future. If they give green some cool new flash cards that go different places, I could see playing Harrow over some other ramp spell and playing a little more pump than you might otherwise play, and pushing cards in that direction. Wolfir Avenger has been great since we brought him back in our tempo push, and with a few more cards you could easily let that be a primary focus of green.
Importantly: There are other support cards for that archetype that aren't just creatures with flash. Mayor of Avabruck in particular plays wonderfully with creatures with Flash.
i really beleive Master is great, just because he can allow for a stalled board to swing to your favor, or give the "fight" ability. He's fragile, but he's usually a target for hate that sometimes give some of your other cards an extra chance to shine longer.
My players and I have been very happy with Briarhorn as a card that is usually a 2-for-1 and occasionally a 3-for-1. The immediate versatility the card provides has been really worthwhile. I can't believe I ran Stonewood Invocation over Briarhorn for like 2 years.
Stonewood Invocation was a different kind of card though. Before Vines of Vastwood was printed, it was one of the few blue "counterspells" available. Briarhorn is more green removal than a green counterspell.
I personally found briarhorn to be much better in theory than practice, and it was always way too easy to read (much like neck snap was in lorwyn draft). I cut it a number of years ago, even though I do like combat tricks.

In the same vein, cant you bluff/threaten having Briarhorn?
I understand that it only gets you so far, but being able to influence your opponent's plays and potentially push extra damage through/hold off damage just by way of knowledge that a card could be in your deck (because it's actually in the cube) is at least worth mentioning.
Not saying that that sort of 'value' should put Briarhorn in the running, just bringing attention to it.

I've done it. Usually happens at a time I'd rather be playing a guy or when a player with wrath is trying to bait out another target but it tends to work. Green decks sometimes have big turn gaps or on-board mana sinks so it's not hard to catch people with briar horn, especially given how few dumb tricks green gets these days. But I'll tell ya, when it comes to briar horn people get once bitten twice shy really easy and if you've got a hole in your curve its really nice to feel like the trickster for once in green.
I also loooooove playing that guy after the blue Mage thinks it's safe to fact.
EDIT: I might say, it's sad but I think greens best attacking 4 drops have protection from black
I would like to see more discussion on this topic. At 360, the must-haves for me are vengevine, thrun, and master of the wild hunt. I run wickerbough and I love him, but I'd cut him if another similar card came along. Are there others I should be running at this size? I feel a little light at that cost but nothing else is jumping out to me.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.

I still really like Phantom Centaur. He's absolutely insane with equipment and is really only vulnerable to white removal, countermagic or a wrath. I know Master of the Wild Hunt has been getting a lot of love around here recently, but I still like the kind of immediate threat the Centaur presents over the longer building threat of the Master.

Wickerbough Elder almost always makes the main deck, I'd probably keep him over Master of the Wild Hunt. As for the 4-drops I also like these guys (I'd add two of them at 450... but I only run 4 4-drops at 360):
It would be something like... Wickerbough Elder.
Uril, the Miststalker RGW -- Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre C -- Vhati il-Dal BG -- Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer RW -- Animar, Soul of Elements URG
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker R -- Maga, Traitor to Mortals B -- Ghave, Guru of Spores BGW -- Sliver Hivelord WUBRG
