I'm so happy we got a bad set, it's a nice break from all of the sweet cards we get. I wouldn't mind of if dragons maze was the same as well
I only hope Dragon's Maze will be as good as RtR because the 4 guilds beside Boros doesn't get any boost in power in this block. I want to see more multicolor increasing in power. So that each guild will have a bit of new identity. I could care less about the mono section, though.
But I had a very feeling that we might just get another cubable Golgari card in Dragon's Maze....
I can understand the feeling. If you are happy with your cube as is, you might not want to change 10-20 cards each set.
Sometimes you get emotionally attached to the cards in your cube and then some newfangled power creep card comes in and just outclasses your trustworthy Fire Ball, Power Sink, Soltari Monk, Yosei or whatever card you happen to like.
Also if the changes come to fast compared to how often you cube, it can be hard to correctly evaluate the right cuts.

And it's not like I hate the fact that we get so many good cards in most sets, it's just I'm really happy for a break in that streak, and wouldn't mind it lasting another set All I want is ral zarek to be a superb U/R walker in dragons maze!

Yeah, I'm really hoping for Ral Zarek to be good. All I wanted from this set that I didn't get were some good red, black and/or white 1-drops for aggro. I got my one cool card in Duskmantle Seer, so that made me happy. Bummed about not getting any good hybrids though. Maybe Dragon's Maze will be all hybrid. Mono-colored would be a boring and disappointing plot twist from a Ravnica block.
I think I'd be less irritated by the lack of cube cards in GTC if the other five guilds hadn't had such a boost in RTR. Izzet was the guild that came out worst for me in RTR with its charm, putting it roughly on a par with Boros in GTC which also gained a charm.
On the other hand, I received a tax bill today that meant any reduction in expenditure is gratefully accepted.

I felt the the guild the most needed an injection of new life was Simic, but it was not to be. It made better than Gruul, though. The Gruul four-drop is great, but I prefer BBE, Sarkhan and Huntmaster at that cost.
That's odd, because if any guild gets more than 1 card in this set for us, it will be Simic. I'm testing the Charm and the Crab Shark.
This probably has to do with my irrational love of creatures with Flash, as well as my desire to see more pump inserted into the cube. I won't be surprised if crab shark fails, but I'm giving him a shot.
Yeah, Cipher really interested me when it was revealed. Too bad the majority of the cards are way, way overcosted. I mean, dealing combat damage to a player with a specific creature is actually a fairly big hoop to jump through, particularly in cube (with all the amazing removal floating about).
Take a look at the black cipher cards Mental Vapors, Midnight Recovery and Shadow Slice which cost 3B, 3B and 4B respectively. How much would they have to cost to be even considered for cube? All of them 1CMC? Probably.
Yeah, 1cmc sounds right for those. I really don't see why the cipher cards needed to cost so much. I was really hoping the cipher discard would be Cabal Therapy with cipher rather than flashback. That doesn't seem so unreasonable to me.
While reading the spoiler today I kept thinking, if it only cost one (or two) less, if it were an Enchantment instead of a Sorcery, if it did 4 instead of 3 damage,... The whole set feels like Limited only cards with some EDH/Multiplayer bombs thrown in. Clearly not a set for cube players.
Slaughter Horn's toughness is the reason why he's not getting into my cube, he trades with most 1cmc duders in cube and only boosts on attack.
I don't dispute either of those claims, and he may ultimately not be good enough, but he fills a role my cube has been missing (aggressive green 3 drop), and I'm interested to see how he pans out.

no, that would be insane. you can cast these and then immediately attack for the effect twice in one turn. so making your opponent discard twice + however many times as the game goes on would be a little much for B. ditto for the other spells (6+ damage for B?). at 1B i'd happily cube any of them. at 2B they'd be borderline printable. i'm surprised the life loss one is so crazily overcosted, though.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
The financial reason is definitely one, but another reason is that I feel like I"m adding and cutting a ton of cards before they really get a chance to see a lot of use. And while I'm always happy making the cube more powerful, I also like to enjoy cards I know are easily replaceable. My cube has gone through more changes and iterations this last year than the other years combined. Not having a ton of cards in a new set at least that down on one front.
I agree with Dumpkins here. Our playgroup does not cube very often and there are cases that a card has been in and out without even being tested! Its nice that I will have a few months of a stable cube and catching up on some past missing cards (like Wasteland!)
It's a win-win situlation really (or a lose-lose, depending on your disposition).
Like others on here I agree that this set is pretty disappointing from the perspective of cube additions. I have a lot more room to test cards than most on here so my list of inclusions is going to be bigger than other cubes generally.

There seems to be an impression from the noncube forumsm that gatecrash was super special awesome. Its cool for draft standard, modern, maybe even legacy.
I may end up adding only one card (Boros Charm). Not an exciting set for cubes. Although good for anyone who still needs to get their hands on shocklands.
i know i'm a noob poster, so take this w/ a grain of salt, but in our testing so far, aurelia's fury has been a house. easily the single best GTC card we added. boros charm was another solid performer. we've been running domri rade every since he was leaked & he's been sort of hit or miss. both the dimir & simic charm saw action w/ the dimir getting a moderate thumbs up but simic not so much. i did get E1 up to a 3/3 @ 1 pt this wknd & i think thats where he's likely to top out @ more often then not. so if an eventual 3/3 is what you're looking for in your cube... i forced other GTC cards in the 5 drafts we got in over the wknd but they were either never seen or never relevant when they showed up FWIW

I wish it coulda been a homerun for cube as well.
I also play legacy. I don't see any addititions to the format other than Boros Charm and maybe Vesuva #2. Not exactly a homerum.

Huh? Dark Ascension brought in some fantastic cube cards, some of which I consider stone cold staples. Just look at this list of badassery:
Not to mention:
I think Dark Ascension was a fantastic set for cube, that has some cards that we'll be playing for years to come.
