Finally a card I'm excited about! This card is aggressively costed, and rewards players who just wants to tap their creatures sideways. And, it stalls annoying cards like Green Sun's Zenith and Bonfires! I think this card is cube-worthy, what do you guys think?
I really like it a lot. The second ability seems like it's aimed at countering something very particular in standard. Bonfire?
Anyway, my white 3-drop section is really really crowded, but this is splashable, fat and efficient; white aggro loves it. I will find space for it somehow.
I don't see it making the cut at 450. What am I missing?
I still run all of those at 330... it's as crowded as the infamous four slot. I like the new guy's splashability, but it is as you say hard to find the correct cut. I don't think Silverblade is on the block for us, he pulls his weight. I'll sleep on it for now.
Why couldn't this have been somehow green or red! Damn you, WotC.
Point is, this bataillon helps enable itself. Attack with your 1/1s that would be blocked to death, make them indestructible, ???, profit!
Clearly a counter to Sphinx's Revelation, but they'll just need to be more careful with their Supreme Verdicts. Will find its place in standard, but not in cube I think.
Specialities about the cube: U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.

Attack with all your creatures, then cast Day of Judgement or Earthquake. Interesting card indeed. Fits perfectly on curve of you cast 1 drop, 2 drop then this. Opponent will surely be forced to kill one of the guys (or wrath them on the play ).
If you support tokens, this may be a good addition, though.
Second ability is the hate ability tacked on an already playable creature ala Ash Zealot.
I don't really think this is Cube worthy. Battalion is not very reliable and the second ability is quite narrow. It seems like he'll be a vanilla 3/3 way too often.
I tend to agree. I can go 1 drop, 2 drop, 3 drop, attack on turn four without my opponent screwing it up I should already be winning becasue they are stuck on 1 land or something right?
And people are thinking of droppping Silverbalde Paladin for THIS!
That one card has been responsible for many of the early game blowouts in my cube. It is absolutely discusting the Boros builds with Hellrider, Lightning Mauler, and even Reckless Waif.
Not to mention that this guy has been splendid with the Shadow guys, Precint Captiain, and Accorder Paladin.
I know it has been a slow spoiler list but come on guys. Don't get me wrong if you have a 600+ list we might look at this but .....
They keep printing good white 3-drops, I wish red got some 3CMC love. I probably won't even have space for this but a card of equivalent cost and power in red would be an easy include for me. It's frustrating after a few fallow weeks of spoilers that the better stuff comes in one of the busiest slots in cube...
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this card is bad. I won't be close to cubing this creature.
The Battalion ability is almost as narrow as the X hosing ability. I rarely see this being better than a 3/3 for 3. And even if it were, I think it's much worse than Pianna, Nomad Captain, who has a trigger that always goes off no matter how many other attackers you have, and actually increases the clock against your opponent in aggro.
I could definitely see running it if you push tokens, as it seems to have more synergy there than in white weenie. WW decks, in our cube at least, are more evasion and equipment based than swarm based.
I still think it's a good card. Swinging with my mob into midrange defenders is cool when I don't worry about them dying, and being at worst a 3/3 is still OK. I also like that it's splashable, when I'm currently really on the look out for in my white 3 CMC drops. I prefer Pianna in tokens - gets them to relevant size more effectively, and you are probably producing more each turn so you don't care if they die. The other ability is narrow but you don't have to do anything or spend anything to enable it... it just blanks a handful of random really powerful spell in opponents' hands. It's a nice bonus.
Still, I just looked at my list. There's nothing I like less than this guy in there. I just think he's good is all, and it's a turn for the better to get something half-decent (so far) in this spoiler season. I would actually include this for certain at 450 for a test drive.
I hope we get something amazing soon so everyone in this forum stops being so miserable!
The second ability hits such a low percentage of my cube's spells (and is not even an answer, just a hindrance) that it's almost meaningless. So I have to evaluate it on base stats and the battalion ability, and with those, it just doesn't seem that great.
Seems really bad for cube. Situational counter ability with few targets and battalion, which I think is uncubable without including tokens on the creature.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.

That we haven't been spoil a remotely good card since experiment one and so people are starving for good card.
I like this card, but I don't know if it's good enough. Attacking with 3 creatures sure seemed hard in cube.

I am guessing the idea is that he throws himself in front of Fireballs.
But it would have been more flavourfull if you could sac him to prevent damage or give indestructibility to a creature.
This card is far from cubable. It has decent stats, but two very narrow abilties that have almost no real synergies.
EDIT: I might be a bit too strict here. It might be good enough for a 720 cube but I am not even sure about that.
I feel compelled to repeat everything I hear
