Legendary Creature - Merfolk Wizard
Prime Speaker Zegana enters the battlefield with X +1/+1 counters on it, where X is the greatest power among other creatures you control.
When Prime Speaker Zegana enters the battlefield, draw cards equal to its power.
Thoughts? Personally, I'm not cutting Simic Sky Swallower for this one. Seems conditional and thus mediocre. Some people say it's insane so here's a thread for it, but I'm skeptical.
UG super ramp fatty control deck of doom is a fun archetype in my cube and this card is really at home there. Ill give you a 6/6 and draw you 6 cards. I'm very happy to include this. Heck if its a 4/4 on average thats still drawing 4 cards for 6 + a free 4/4, best card in cube to blink right here. I Love it personally and i understand it isnt for everyones cubes but this screams card advantage to me/
This is a sweet card in blink decks, lark decks, value decks
I like it. Not the best if you cant reuse it. I might test it oit if we get nothing better

Personally, I don't think any of the guild leaders are worth running. The double/double casting cost of these cards make them really hard to cast, and the cards just aren't sweet enough to justify them.
Honestly, the only double/double creature I've seen so far that's good enough in Cube is probably Desolation Angel, and maybe Angel of Despair, in larger cubes.
Finally a card that looks promising. It should easily draw you three cards which is a lot. It can be reanimated, it is worth playing Natural Order for, it can be used with Reveillark and Imperial Recruitor.
It has a annoyingly restrictive casting cost though. I think this is a card that desereves to be tested.
I think this card warrants quite a bit of testing at higher cube counts. Tidings alone costs six to draw four and even though this is harder to cast you will get a lot more out of it running green in Cube.
I think that cube is an environment that can support a card like this. With U/G ramp dudes being a real deck and also splashing for cards such as momentary blink/lark make this guy all the more exciting. Not exactly sure it's going to be good but I can imagine it being absurd at times. At the extreme worst it replaces itself with the card you draw.
Six mana for a guy and a way to draw a bunch of cards isn't bad, but I don't know if this is what I'm looking for in blue/green, where I have access to both of those abilities in their respective colors.
I like that it can work with Erratic Portal / Crystal Shard and you can abuse blink with it (although that's more of a white mechanic). Still not exactly sure if this is what I'm looking for at 720, but time will tell.
I disagree that 2UUGG is that difficult a mana cost once you hit 6 anyway, but this card doesn't do enough when ramped or reanimated into in most cases. If you hit six with anything equal to or bigger than a 3/3 though, Ziggy gets you some serious value. The interaction with Evolve creatures should be applauded, well done WotC.
I think it's still one of the better U/G guys but it's definitely worse than my three, so no need for me to consider it too much.

I think Obzedat and Armada Wurm are better personally. Desolation Angel is a bonafide bomb hardcast though.
I know for a fact that this will make my players play simic colors more than any of the cards I run right now. That doesn't make it better, but it makes it worth inclusion. These days Sky Swallower gets cut from decks in my cube for stuff like the titans or woodfall primus, so I might, unfortunately, give this guy the nudge over him for awhile just to see what happens.
I'm a fan of this card as well. I doubt it will make a permanent stay in my cube, but I'm definitely willing to give it a couple drafts over SSS. For the record I think SSS is a better and more reliable creature, but I like the wow factor with this guy and the stories that could result from him.

I am with you. I mostly get cockly smiles and significant groans about SSS. This guy would get people excited about Simic even if a little worse. It is a lot less likely to get stolen for a splash than SSS.
I often see that in G/X decks that have birds and natural order or a dual land and birthing pod for SSS.
This is the card that was spoiled that has the best chance of maybe getting cubed. A lot of decks that would play this creature would have a bunch of cheap low power mana creatures and then a bunch of 5+ targets to ramp into. I see this card being really high variance with it being great sometimes and bad in others. I don't like it as much as the rest of you seem to, but I think it's worth testing at least.
What do you want to draw with this though? Might as well play a better finisher at that price point that is better when ramped into really fast or reanimated, or is just more resilient. If you draw another actual finisher then I suppose that's fine. It's fun, but not that all that powerful unless you guarantee the cards you draw will have more impact than whatever other 6 mana guy you could've been running instead.
Gah. I wish this guy was a little bit better, but I don't often have six sorcery speed mana available and a big creature AND desperately need card draw.
With a 3/3 out, you get a 4/4 for 6 mana that draws you FOUR cards when it comes out. That's a pretty good investment regardless. Now you have to construct a deck that has an average power-level of 3 on its creatures in order to have her play out that well on average, but she has the potential to be really strong. Plus, she can be bounced/blinked and abused to take full advantage of her trigger.
Look at it like an interesting Mulldrifter variant. For the extra mana in UG, you have the potential for a much bigger body and more card draw.
I'm not saying this card will crack the top 4, but I could see it being a #5 or #6 slot in Simic for larger cubes.
I hate that all the sweet guild leaders are costed BBCC. I understand why they did it that way, and it makes sense for constructed/regular limited (you want the Simic leader in a true Simic deck, not splashed from an Izzet deck), but man it makes them tough inclusions for cube, where at most there's probably one person in Simic ramp. Even if there's someone in that archetype, it's an easy wheel for that person, making it an uninteresting pick. If this was 4BC it would be a windmill slam into my Simic section, same with the Ghost Council.

I'm not disputing that it's really good. It is a bomb. I just wonder how many more games it would win me as that 4/4 who draws three cards compared to, say, a random Wurmcoil Engine. The latter is better early and on an empty board, more easily costed and versatile, and will still end like 90% of games on T6 (especially with stuff already on the board). If Zegana comes down big on T6 and draws some cards, does it win me >90% of games for having done so? I'm not sure about that point. And if so, could another fatty not have done the same?
