I'm going to him in another spin at the Solemn Visitor's place. Haven't tried him in a while and never at full power yet.

I've no problem testing him again because I found both Sorin quite similar, while really good though, but I would prefer try to bring a different type of effect and see how it works. Solem Visitor is the worst of the two andI want to see how Obzedat performs at his spot. Obzedat also will fix the Orhzov's guild curves that is a bit square for now with two 3CC and two 4CC.

Does anyone still have the Ghost in there cube? How is he doing for you? Or why are you not running him?

I've long since cut ghost dad. Not that he wasn't good, but his casting cost was far too prohibitive, and he was routinely a last pick. Unless you have a huge gold section, I can't see this in the same cube as the two Sorins, Vindicate, Lingering Souls or Magister of Worth.

I cut ghost counsil because he was a bit narrow for my liking and I'm trying to trim the curve down of my cube (outside of cheatable fatties).

But he's under apreciated on these forums, good card. In raw power level he's #4 or #5 orzhov for me, but loses out to weaker cards for curve reasons.

Lingering -> vindicate -> sorin #1 -> Obzedat/Gerrards Verdict -> Sorin #2 -> Unburial rites for me

Gerrard's Verdict, Sin Collector and Tidehollow Sculler are all better options than Magister of Worth IMO in a powered cube environment. The four others were my Orhzov guild still few hours ago. I personnally think that the Angel is more something that's going to shine in slow unpowered cube. 6 mana seems a lot to wrath the board against agressive decks. But I do understand the attraction for the card.

And original's art is so ugly, glad they print a promo of it!

Magister is really very strong. 6 mana for a wrath and a 4/4 flier is great, especially since it carries all of its value if you cheat it in as well. As far as six mana drops go, it's one of the best possible against aggro - it guarantees you're ahead on board presence after it. That said, even Magister is not cutting the very top tier of Orzhov and I don't have room for it. I would possibly put Gerrard's Verdict ahead too depending on what was needed elsewhere.

Ya, Magister of Worth is definitely not a bad card.

Played a bunch with this Obzedat this past weekend in the modern cube. He made it for a second back in the day, but it seems like every set has an orzhov card you could play so it's hard to run them all.

Obzedat was awesome though. It provided so much to the midrange/aggro BW decks with reach/lifegain and a threat that can only be hit by instant speed answers. That deck can stall out sometimes as it's more about disruption than reach, and Obzedat was pretty much one sided expensive sulfuric vortex that can attack. I'm not going to say it's better than the usual suspects, but it played so well it's hard not to mention it. I'm probably going to try it again in my own cube.

I really enjoy Obzedat and have resisted cutting it for another option for a while now. It's one of the most difficult cards to cast in my whole cube, but when you put it in the right deck, it's very very good. It gives you a tough-to-remove wincon that doesn't HAVE to get through the opponent's defenses... but one which shortens the game immensely when it can. And it's in the right colors for cards that can clear a path for it, or bring it back once it does die.

I wouldn't say it's a permanent fixture, but I've never been disappointed to have it on my list.

I was really attached to Obzedat for a while, but BBWW in the cost was annoyingly restrictive, and it doesn't stick out to me as incredibly versatile or incredibly powerful ... just Pretty Good. And there are lots of cards like that, which I think work fine, but I realized we get a lot more fun out of Sorins and Magister.

I think he'll only continue to tumble into lower ranks over time (I'm not even sure he makes my top 10 orzhov cards anymore). Which is not to say I think it's a bad card, or that I'd scoff at someone including it in their cube. But, I think there are generally better choices for limited cube spaces.

I really like the Obeze-daddy but as my cube has gotten more powerful it has been feeling weaker. The casting cost can be a real pain sometimes and all that coloured mana makes it hard to cheat out early. In a grindy match-up it provides a solid amount of inevitability in a way that some colours find very difficult to deal with (I'm looking at you Temur).

It's a fine place holder I have fond memories of, but I know the next solid B/W creature could take its spot.
