Are those counters permanent? Or only during when you attack?
Counters are always permanant. Otherwise it would be worded like a Giant Growth.
This card is pretty big and can get out of hand fast. But it is hampered by a very restictive casting cost and by being easily bolted. It is probably worse then a vanilla 5/5, eventhough it has a lot more potential.
Whoops, I saw this spoiled at 1:rg::rg:, and that would have been cubable. At 4, it's just Fangren Firstborn, and no one's clamoring over that. Especially when that puts him in direct cost contention with BBE and Huntsmaster.
Edit: Man, I read no good. The ability is different from Firstborn, but it's still not worthwhile. The added damage is the same as Firstborn.

My initial comparison was boar tusk liege also which at least pumps immediately when it resolves and that card isn't even in contention these days. Others have pointed out that there are better 4 drops in RG.
If this was an art gallery it would make it. I love the art. Its a shame they put it on a 1/1 for four. Its like a scute mob for 4. I'd rather run scute mob.

When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
Hes a bunch better than Boggart, especially if he were 3 mana. I loved Fangren Firstborn way too much for a creature that always died on entry.
Ram Gang also has Haste and feels so nice in my red decks that run lots of creatures. This guy is best in a deck with some elves and utility dorks. Maybe ok in boros if you support tokens, but without any evasion or ETB value he is toast.
I would rather have something like Bloodfray Giant than this guy in my deck.
*reads it as giving all dudes a +1/+1 counter when it attacks*
"Oh sweet, a new Fangren Firstborn with an easier casting cost! And playable in more archetypes, hooray!"

Aaaaaaand I'm embarrassed to say this is what I thought it did until reading this. For some reason, I blame you, Usman.

I just meant he is better than Boggart in a vacuum. Dangerous phrase, I know. Boggart is definitely better in Cube.
I like this card a lot, unfortunately it cost 4 and not 3 and does not have haste. Had it been one or the other though I would certainly try it in my cube.
Haha, everyone's becoming so delirious due to the lack of cube cards in this set that we can't even read straight. "a 3/3 haste for 3 that gets counters every attack? staple!"
Might be cubeable?

I think this might be about 6-7 best 4 drop r/g. Making it probably not even scratch the top tweny for the guild.
