I love recruiter in our cube. Sometimes he fetches a value/utility spell like mulldrifter/acidic slime. Sometimes he fetches a threat like kalonian hydra/hornet queen. He is a versatile card that expands red in a way that so few cards in cube do and I doubt we will ever cut him from ours.
Have a helicopter drop you off out front. Light your cigar with a small Indonesian boy holding a black lotus. Then bust out a craw wurm deck with no sleeves. Raw dog shuffle, loose terribly, flip the table, leave in a hovercraft.
I think the moment that Imperial Recruiter cemented itself as a cube card is when I went Imperial Recruiter, Fetch Kiki-Jiki. Kiki Jiki, copy Imperial Recruiter, fetch siege gang commander.

How does this card fare in 2022? Red 3s have gotten ridiculously stacked, but Recruiter still serves a unique tutoring purpose.
Also worth mentioning: How significant is the difference between having or not having KikiCombo in your cube for this card to be worth it?

Still a must have if you're playing Kiki-Twin combo. I'd still play Recruiter of the Guard without the combo since white has a better creature utility belt than red, and the two toughness restriction opens up for generally better options. I'd be pretty comfortable cutting Imperial Recruiter without the combo, but it's still pretty serviceable depending on the cube, could go either way.
I'm not sure its even a must have for splinter twin. Those decks run fine without it. It was very underwhelming when I ran it and Haven't really looked back since cutting it.
I like them in lark decks, welder decks and especially the spells matter decks. Grindy jund piles with Braids, Grist and alike. Don't always like how slow it sometimes feel to fish for your key cards. But it does its job making these kind of decks more consistent and proactive. My cube is unpowered and we like the recruiters in it quite a bit. I'm sure they are better with fast mana in the environment, but I haven't really played powered with recruiters to know for sure.
It has some application with Pod/ Kiki/ Recurring Nightmare, but I think its a bit too slow these days. I wouldn't recommend it for people that don't okay some combination of Twin, Rec etc.
Trinket Mage is in my cube primarily for storm for fetching LED/ Lotus while as a creature to pitch to Culling the Weak. Its 2/2 body has been pretty relevant as these decks are primarily on the defensive to blunt attackers.

Blue and red don't have any other direct tutors to search for any of the combo pieces. Recruiter often finds both combo pieces by finding Kiki-Jiki to copy Recruiter to find the other combo piece. Sure, blue and red can rely on cantrips / looting, but it's always ideal to have Recruiter of the Guard in a Kiki-Twin shell (the exception being if your only combo pieces you drafted were Zealous Conscripts / Splinter Twin or something).

fair enough. I think I would include them if I was at 540 but its hard to support combo with so many dedicated slots at 360.
Is there a way to look at the 3-0 archives and see how many twin decks are 3-0ing with recruiter vs without?

My understanding is the strength of this card is its interaction with flicker creatures that could be tutored by the recruiter to continue the chain.
I don't think this card is really playable in decks like Welder/ Jund Staxs/ Persist etc. as those decks have much stronger options for redundancy, but at the same time, I feel keeping recruiter might be necessary for this interaction.
I think red recruiter is a very easy cut these days if you aren’t playing twin. The flicker interaction is nice, but a lot of the legacy power comes from aether vial which makes flickers a lot stronger due to instant speed timing, cheating on mana (recruiters big downside is that 3 cmc is a lot of mana), and also the ability to chain 4 flickerwisps together if necessary, where as in cube you only have 1. Also the red recruiter misses a lot of key targets (solitude, flickerwisp come to mind initially). I also pretty low on the white one as well, and will likely cut it soon for the same reasons. Im curious if other people have different experiences with them.

I second all that - I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything as this is a somewhat popular card.

I've been experimenting with Chord of Calling recently as I've found the instant speed can be incredibly powerful for tutoring key targets such as Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker / Flickerwisp at key moments.
